Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

#Heresies_Heretics vs.
#They_which_are_Approved

Judges 2 - KJV
20 ¶And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;
21 I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:
22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.

Do you see the parallel between the two passages - Judges 2 and 1Cor 11?

The LORD could have easily exterminated all the enemies of His people but He deliberately left some roaming in the promised land. Why? That through them He might prove Israel, whether they would keep the way of the LORD to walk therein.

Even so, for there must be heresies among the churches. Listen up, don't bury your head in the sand. Heresies among God's people is a most certain thing. The modal verb "must" denotes a necessity, a necessity that is dictated by the Lord's wisdom and ordered by His will.

Why? In order that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. They who are approved are those who hold to the truth, the opposite of heresies and expose the peddlers of heresies. The value and beauty of the gospel truths are often magnified and enhanced in the context of heresies. Diamonds are always displayed with a dark velvet background; the dark velvet DOES NOT increase the value or dazzling beauty of the diamonds, but it enables feeble eyes to capture their sparkling beauty better.

In the presence of heresies, they that are approved of God are made manifest to those who have eyes to see. Who are they that are approved of God? They who rightly divide the word of truth. The rest are peddlers of heresies.

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV — Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

There are heresies AMONG YOU and there are those that are approved of God AMONG YOU. In such a circumstance, you don't have the luxury to sit on the fence lest the Lord shook the fence vigorously and you fall off and break your neck!

You will be tested and proven; which way will you choose? You will be tried by the Lord whether you will tolerate and choose heresies, or you will embrace those things approved of God.

Be careful, for there must be also heresies among you. Have you been taught the truth to arm you to recognize the heresies?
