Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Expectations and Reasonable Service

Unrealistic expectation is the bitch of all frustration!

The meme in this article, http://www.inspiremore.com/marriage-killer/, caught my attention; it illustrates an axiom, "unrealistic expectation is the bitch of all frustration"; closely related is "uncommunicated expectation is the bane of annoyance."

I substituted the noble word "mother" with one that is apt for the evil spawned.

The axiom probably applies to all sorts of relationships. Let your expectations of others match those that they have of themselves.

But if you are convinced that their expectations of themselves are below their persons or dignity, then help them to raise their expectations of themselves.

The gospel not only makes plain God's expectation of His children, but He also raises their expectation of themselves as God's redeemed and purified unto Himself.

Titus 2
11 ¶ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
