Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

The Recipe for Winning

Save it and you shall lose it,
but lose it for the Lord's sake
and you shall keep it!

Save it and you shall lose it, but lose it for the Lord's sake and you shall keep it!

Matthew 16:25
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Mark 8:35
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

Luke 9:24
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

John 12:25
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Want to be a winner?
Lose your life for the Lord and His gospel sake!

These words of warning are directed at God's children, whose lives have been redeemed... exhorting them to faithful discipleship and wise stewardship of their redeemed lives.

That redeemed life may be 'lost' because it is spent and be spent for the sake and cause of the Lord Jesus Christ. Wise disciples appear foolish in the eyes of the world... they 'wasted' their lives and lost them for the Lord and His gospel's sake. But the Lord said such lives are not lost but kept!

Foolish disciples want to save their redeemed lives by wasting and squandering them on their own... instead of minding the Lord's business, they are preoccupied with their own affairs. They fear losing out in minding the Lord's cause... and in doing so, they actually squandered and wasted their redeemed lives!!!

I was once rebuked, 'my brightest son, but most stupid in wealth gathering.' In Dad's eyes, I was losing big time entering the ministry and giving up a professional career!

But few see the lasting treasures I'm blessed with... and though 'deprived' somewhat, I remind my children that we are blessed by the Lord with riches untold, and unseen!

In addition, the Lord has provided for our needs through a few of His very generous and kindhearted children - BYS, CKY, JRC, KES, LFJ, WCS... - to name a few who have helped quietly and even anonymously. The Lord bless them all according to His riches in glory! Amen

Do we keep the life we lost or do we find a better life?

Dellis Layne Worsham Sr.
The new life consists of living with a heart towards pleasing God and acknowledging Him in all we do. If the Lord wills, I will do this or that. in the new life we also find a new circle of friends, since those in the world will think us a little peculiar. Be content with such things that ye have, and bless the Lord for things we receive. we give up those things that are dishonest and realize that God will let us be overcome with more than we can bear.
