Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Job 1:6 KJV — Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

Luke 3:38 KJV — Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

John Burkett
Honest question in the job 1:6 reference can you show me in the immediate context of that chapter where it identifies the “sons of God” as angelic beings?

Dellis Layne Worsham Sr.
Satan is an angel

John Burkett
Dellis Layne Worsham Sr. So in this particular passage he is identified as one of the sons of God?

J.E. Griffis
Satan will even walk among the redeemed sons of God.

Dellis Layne Worsham Sr.
John Burkett not sure. Brother Sing made the statement about the angels being sons of God. I was just pointing out that Satan was there when the sons of God met with the Lord. I'm sure Sing has more to say about it. .

I’m gonna have to agree, with this logic. Logic is the only way to bring this to light. Some think of angels as a being with wings. But nowhere do we find angels having wings.

Gill has this: "Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord,... This is generally understood of the angels, as in Job 38:7 who may be thought to be so called, because of their creation by the father of spirits..."

And there are hosts of others. They were logical; few are today.

Dan England
If the Word of God considered satan to be Gods son Scripture would have said it. If you look at the word ‘among’ you would see the serpent did not present himself but tried to sneak in amongst the angels. But God was not fooled by the phony. Matthew 22

Sing F Lau
Your "... if...should have..." is illogical.
Why so? If that be true, then the command to rightly divide the word of truth would be redundant.

Your word study of "among" fascinating indeed but I think a classic case of eisegesis.

"... Satan came ALSO among them to present himself before the LORD." 2:1. So much for the sneaking fluff - just the opposite of what you read into the Scriptures.

Let the Scriptures speak for itself.
The Scriptures give some enough ropes for them to hang themselves with.

Sing F Lau Are you studying mormonism?

Sing F Lau
No, I'm studying the Bible.
Dan, are you a Pokemon? LOOOOOOOOOOOL.
