Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

He Gave Sense to Soundbites

#soundbites
#sense

Luke 9 - KJV
20 ¶ He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.
21 ¶ And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;
22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

Please note an important lesson here.

The Lord Jesus Christ asked them a momentous question;

Apostle Peter gave an answer with an impressive soundbite;

Christ wasn't impressed; He wanted to make sure the disciples got the SENSE.

The Lord knew the erroneous notion entertained by the disciples concerning the Christ of God; they were expecting a political and militaristic messiah who would deliver their nation Israel from the mighty Roman conqueror and oppressor.

The Lord's antithetical answer destroyed their cherished fable; the Christ of God will be rejected by the whole religious establishment; instead, He will be delivered into the Roman's hand, and be eliminated.

Is that the Christ of God you are expecting? Are you disappointed to learn the truth now? Are you ashamed of such a Christ of God?

Luke 9:26
"
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels."

Nehemiah 8:8
"So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the SENSE and caused them to understand the reading."

To the question "How are you saved?" - all, Calvinists and their close cousins alike, will instantly blurt out heartily, "we are saved by God's grace alone - we are sola gracians. Hallelujah."

What an impressive soundbyte!

Can you give them the SENSE?

Amen! He is the Christ of GOD, not the Christ men have concocted in their own minds to suit their purpose.

I just got a better definition of what a sound bite is by reading this… 😊

They began well but ended badly

#be_warned

Let them be a warning unto you and me; the same tragedy repeats

1Chronicles 5

The Reubenites, Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh were allotted their inheritance in the Promised Land on the eastern side of River Jordan.  They were blessed with valiant men of war and were united against the enemies;  they assisted one another to snuff out the enemies in the land in order to possess the land allotted to them.

18 The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.
19 And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.

The LORD God was with them, and helped them; He was intreated of them because they put their trust in Him. The LORD God destroyed their enemies before them (v25).

20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

They began so well; sadly, they didn't end well.

They were so favoured by the LORD; however, they went a whoring.

25 ¶And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them
26 And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.

What a tragic end - they were sacked from their inheritance, conquered and scattered among the heathens whose gods they went whoring after, and eventually assimilated by the heathens.

FEED... FEED... FEED My lambs, my sheep

FEED my lambs, FEED my sheep, FEED my sheep!
Feeding has to do with the living;
Food is not for the dead.

 #regeneration #conversion #gospelpreaching

FEED... FEED... FEED My lambs, my sheep;

NOT make... make... make sheep for Me!

John 21:15-17
"He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
"He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
"And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep."

The sheep are already there by Christ's work and God's effectual calling. He sends you to feed those already there by His free and sovereign act of giving them eternal life through His Spirit in the effectual call.

But SO MANY preachers - both Arminians and their elitist cousins Calvinists - don't even understand this simple command; they sincerely think Christ commands them to go and help Him make His sheep through their preaching!

Oh, those deceived and deluded gospel regenerationists. What has bewitched them?

Why aren't they content with the noble work of feeding Christ's sheep with the food provided by the Lord Himself?

Why must they insist on their role in the divine work of regeneration?

Why must they usurp God's divine work of giving eternal life?

Isn't that an example of repudiating the word of Christ, and being an enemy of the cross of Christ?

I have never heard of a midwife foolish enough to insist that she had played any role in the conception of the child she assisted in delivering into the family. But such foolishness prevails in the Christendom.

A gift comes from without; Faith is a saving grace worked from within

A gift comes from without;
Faith is a saving grace worked from within.

#giftfromwithout

"So Faith Is The Gift Given To The Unregenerate accompanied by regeneration."

-----------

That's a popular fable.

A regenerated elect is ADOPTED and is given the Holy Spirit to dwell in him... this is the Spirit of adoption spoken of here:

Romans 8:15 KJV — For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

This indwelling Spirit works the multifaceted fruit of the Spirit in the child of God, of which faith is one of them.

Galatians 5:22 KJV — But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The ministry of the word is ordained to draw out these graces that the Spirit of God has worked in His children. "Faith cometh from hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

A gift comes from WITHOUT; faith is a spiritual grace, among many others, worked from WITHIN by the indwelling Spirit of God in a child of God.

Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

The gift of God spoken of is the eternal salvation in Jesus Christ, by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ in His work of redeeming His people.
"... by grace" is the manner in which the gift of salvation is bestowed;
"... through faith" is the basis of salvation, i.e. through the faithfulness of Christ in redeeming His people; "it is FINISHED."

A famine of hearing the words of the LORD!

What famine are you talking about?

A famine of hearing the words of the LORD!

Amos 8
11 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Apostle Paul's dying words to Timothy:
4:1 ¶ I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Where is the famine? We are nourished with plenty of fables... we are fattened with many good words and fair speeches! People are flocking to our mega-churches! What famine are you talking about?
