Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

A gift comes from without; Faith is a saving grace worked from within

A gift comes from without;
Faith is a saving grace worked from within.

"So Faith Is The Gift Given To The Unregenerate accompanied by regeneration."

-----------

That's a popular fable.

A regenerated elect is ADOPTED and is given the Holy Spirit to dwell in him... this is the Spirit of adoption spoken of here:

Romans 8:15 KJV — For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

This indwelling Spirit works the multifaceted fruit of the Spirit in the child of God, of which faith is one of them.

Galatians 5:22 KJV — But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The ministry of the word is ordained to draw out these graces that the Spirit of God has worked in His children. "Faith cometh from hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

A gift comes from WITHOUT; faith is a spiritual grace, among many others, worked from WITHIN by the indwelling Spirit of God in a child of God.

Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

The gift of God spoken of is the eternal salvation in Jesus Christ, by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ in His work of redeeming His people.
"... by grace" is the manner in which the gift of salvation is bestowed;
"... through faith" is the basis of salvation, i.e. through the faithfulness of Christ in redeeming His people; "it is FINISHED."
