Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Stewpig or Stupid - great lack of common sense

Stupid is a proper English word; look at the screenshot below; it's neither foul, obscene, nor politically incorrect. It is THE right adjective to describe the severe lack of common sense. A man who says the dead must do something in order to get life is stupid indeed; common sense demands that life must precede the activities of that life. Similarly, a man who says being kicked out of home is the same as being thrown into prison awaiting execution are the same is indeed stupid. What's a less offensive and obnoxious adjective? Irrational?

The word "stupid" is not found in the KJ Bible; the nearest equivalent is probably "foolish."

Galatians 3:1 KJT — O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

Proverbs 17:25 KJT — A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.

A man may be an intelligent man, but if his idea is shown to be stupid, he should be thankful and repent - that's what I have done many times. There is no need to rage and rave and rant; there is no need to change the subject; otherwise, just show that your idea is not stupid but plain common sense.

"The just shall live by faith" is repeated in the Scriptures.

Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Heb 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Hab 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

"The just shall live by faith" is obviously a statement describing the just, those freely justified by God; such shall live by faith, as demonstrated by Abraham; he did not live by observing the ceremonial laws; he simply believed, and his believing was counted unto him to experience the blessedness of his justification freely by the grace of God.

Romans 4 - KJT
1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

Apostle Paul demonstrated, with the example of Abraham, that a man is justified freely by God's grace (Romans 3:24) and experiences the blessedness of his justified state by faith, not by observing ceremonial laws, as insisted by the Judaizers. Apostle Paul marshalled Abraham to repudiate their fable

But SO MANY are stupid enough to take "The just shall live by faith" as a prescription on how an unjustified condemned man is to be justified, i.e. by his faith.
