First resurrection, second resurrection
Nearly everyone
understands the former as regeneration in time, and the latter as literal at
the end of time!
How does such idea
fit with these Scriptures?
Mt 27
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was
rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the
rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies
of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his
resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
And this: Rev 20
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them,
and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were
beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not
worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon
their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a
thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until
the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
I'm beginning to
think that "the rest of the dead" here refers to the dead of God's
children who were not resurrected in that FIRST RESURRECTION that occurred at
Christ's resurrection - the first fruits.
Others LIVED and reigned with Christ a thousand years, the period between
the first resurrection (as recorded in the two passages above) and the second
resurrection at Christ's return.
Tell me what you
think. I need sharp sounding boards to aid me in thinking.
Amen gallery has no
use to me!

I'll take the bait!
I am not as astute as you Sing, I am an intellectually hamstrung Appalachian
with more zeal than intellect!
My speculation is
that those resurrected saints at Calvary, perhaps a multitude, are present
bodily with Christ as King and they are the specifically the great cloud of
witnesses of Hebrew 12:1 They are resurrected saints in the third heaven not
Heaven (with streets of gold) Christ rules this reign in bodily form as first
fruits of our resurrection. As he is we will be also and as the first
resurrected saints!

All the baits are
WITHOUT hooks.... so fear not to speak your mind on my turf. Very safe to speak
here.
I like your idea.
Keep speaking and the Spirit of Christ will lead us closer to the truth. Zeal
for he Lord is a wonderful thing. Bless the Lord that you have plenty of it!

See these statements
of Christ: John 5
25 Verily, verily, I
say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the
voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live...
28 Marvel not at
this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall
hear his voice.
Many say the former
refers to regeneration... and the latter refers to resurrection at Christ's
second coming!!!
If that be true, it necessarily
implies that prior to this there was no regeneration!!! So, the first idea
can't possibly be true.
Also verse 28 speaks
of something in the time frame of "for the HOUR is coming" - hardly a
term to refer to something THOUSANDS of years ahead!!!
I suggest both
statements of Christ refer to the same things... and that is the FIRST
resurrection recorded in Mt 27:51-3, and Rev 20:4-5.
"... MANY
bodies of the saints which slept arose." what happened to them?

Just the thought of
there actually being saints bodily with Jesus right now in time there cheering
us on in the faith wishing they could come here and join in with us. They have
a big dog in this fight. They are "envious" of us in our situation!
Can you imagine the
conversations they had in Jerusalem with people and what they would have told
them.
Course the rich man
would not listen if one rose from the dead so doubtful those resurrected found
many who would believe they were resurrected saints.
LOL our mental
health clinics are full of resurrected saints!! LOL
Lawd ha murcy may we
believe a resurrected saint when we see one and entertain him graciously and
invite him to speak to us all he is allowed to say!
I may have to do a
pentecostal jig right now! #slaininthespirit #rollingonthefloor
singing to ourselves
in songs, psalms and spiritual songs singing and making melody in our hearts
unto the Lord!
sing
As long as you dance
your pentecostal jig WITHOUT the pantyhose on, I will tolerate it! <LOL>.
More telling, those
words about witnesses were addressed to the Hebrew believers, and not to the
Shebrews!
Charles Page
Sing, we got to get
this millennial reign thing in our hearts and realize who we as regenerated
Children of God are! We got resurrected saints with Christ who are like us in
passions! It is not that we want to be like them which is good but they would
love even more to be one of us! think about that!!!

1Peter 1:
10 ¶ Of which
salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of
the grace that should come unto you:
11 Searching what,
or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when
it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should
follow.
12 Unto whom it was
revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things,
which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you
with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to
look into.
THINGS WHICH THE
ANGELS DESIRE TO LOOK INTO!!!
THE PROPHETS HAVE
ENQUIRED AND SEARCHED DILIGENTLY!

<LOL> I call
them Pantycostals! several years ago i said that to them! they didn't like my
humor!
At one of the
assemblies a country preacher got up and testified how much he loved his wife.
He went to the store and bought her a new pair of panties and a bra for the
event! I called them pantycostals!
The church deleted
that testimony from the archives!

I got to go to
