Don't
cling to an erroneous doctrine just because...
-
your revered Reverends and denominational theologians teach it.
-
you have held and cherished it for so long.
-
you have vigorously defended it.
-
you want to remain in the camp.
-
it is a popular majority view.
-
and on and on...
Does
it conform to the Scriptures rightly divided is all that matters, otherwise
"sola scriptura" is just a nice-sounding shibboleth to deceive
yourself, and impress the simple and naive.
Christ
has warned against such a common phenomenon.
Matthew
15:9 KJV — But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the
commandments of men.
Christ's
apostle Paul gave a similar warning:
Ephesians
4:14 KJV — That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and
carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning
craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.
