Rome says:
Legal justification is by BOTH faith in Christ AND works of
righteousness.
Protestants, Rome's daughters (and others who amputated one of
the two gangrenous limbs) declare:
- Legal justification is by faith ALONE in
Christ.
Scriptures say, and the old school Baptists believed
rightly:
Legal justification is by the righteousness of Christ alone,
and this legal justification by the righteousness of Christ is applied freely and
sovereignly, therefore by grace alone, by the Spirit of God to an elect personally in his
native state of sin and condemnation. This vital/personal justification is TO
BE EXPERIENCED through faith alone in Christ, and is EVIDENCED by BOTH works of
righteousness and faith in Christ.

Roger Huckle
I heartily agree, but James doesn't.
Sing
One ought to speak for oneself only... unless clearly
authorised by others! <LOL>
Linda Lancaster
By the Righteous Works of Christ Jesus, that is. Not by works
of us who believe in Christ. He alone did it all so that we might be the
righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
Sing
You believing in Jesus Christ is also a WORK you do - that
needs to be excluded too, just in case you are addicted to that lie too!
Linda Lancaster
It is by the GRACE (God's empowering) that I believe in
Jesus Sing. Without HIM I can do nothing, with HIM I am able to believe. Sorry,
not a lie, but the truth.
Sing
"It is by the GRACE" is only a religious shibboleth
mouth by many.
Your believing in Christ IS A WORK done by you, therefore it
has nothing to do with your salvation. So many claim that their believing is
necessary to their salvation by the grace of G… See more
Roger
James speaks for himself 2:24.
Sing
James 2:24 "Ye see then how that by works a man is
justified, and not by faith only."
And what do you understand by it?
Roger
Just what it says. James taught that justification is by
faith plus works. Now, I don't believe him, however. I also don't believe the
chuchian spin on what you are, probably about to tell me that it's supposed to
mean. Don't bother.
Sing
Why waste time making comments and then "don't
bother"?
Which aspect of justification is James dealing with?
Which aspect of justification is not by faith only, but
works also
How do the faith and works of a man justify him?
Yes, James does speak the INSPIRED truth of God, but Roger doesn't
believe James and is not bothered!
Roger
That is precisely the point! JUSTIFICATION is a legal
declaration. James uses the same language as Paul when he talks about it. Note
how he asks the question about Abraham. The answer is an emphatic No! There is
no such thing as dead faith either. There is faith and there is unbelief. It is
not faith that saves. Faith is the evidence. For James, it is a cause. Don't
drink the kool aid.
Sing
Roger, learn the truth of this passage... and it will help
you.
2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman
that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Sing
Justification is NOT ALWAYS legal justification. Works and
faith DO NOT justify LEGALLY. They do justify evidentially. Works and faith
justify only in the sense that they declare and demonstrate something about
those who have works and faith. It is like breath and heartbeats justify the
claim that the person is alive.
Both faith and death faith are TRUE faith. Death faith is a faith without works. A dead man is a true man, but a dead man is a man without activities.
Roger
Works are most often faked by the goats. Christ taught the
left hand should not know what the right is doing and that our alms should be
done in private. Too many inconsistencies.
Sing
Goats don't fake works. The idea that goats would want to
fake works is just plain stupid and nonsensical!
Goats don't have works.
Goats are judged for the absence of work.
Go read Mt 25 for yourself. Let Scriptures speak for
itself.
Only God's children can be charged as having dead faith, i.e. a faith without works.
Roger
Come on, Sing, get real. How do you think the wolves put on
their sheep's clothing? By pointing to their works in Jesus' name. Why don't you
read Matthew and get a clue?
Sing
You are weird... first you talk about goats, and now you
talk about wolves in sheep's clothing! Next, you would talk about goat eating
sheep and wolves!!! Get real, and stick to the subject. If you can't, don't
waste time here.
Roger
Sing, the reprobate are called many things in the
Scriptures. Goats, tares, etc.. Just substitute reprobate for goats and tares
and wolves and you might get a clue. Again, these fake works to fool others
who don't have a clue. Noaw, to the point. Since James uses the same terms as
Paul when discussing Justification, and Christ's teachings also contradict what
James is attempting to promote. Why do you attempt to spin it to your own
theology? Read Deut 13 before you answer.
Sing
You are quite mistaken if you think Paul and James are
speaking of the same thing. You are addicted to SOUND BYTES, and miss the SENSE
of what they are dealing with.
Paul deals with legal justification... a man's standing
before God by the righteousness of Jesus Christ, apart from man's own
righteousness of obeying the law.
James deals with practical justification by BOTH faith and
works - both faith and works EVIDENCES the justified state.
It is the just (the justified ones) who shall live by faith!!!
Works of righteousness EVIDENCE, demonstrate the justified state of a man.
Get it?
Sing
Did I read you correctly that you made this statement, "Christ's teaching also contradicted what James is attempting to
promote"??????????
Roger
Yes Sing, I fully understand the churchian spin on James.
What does Paul say? There is one who judges, therefore it is a little matter to
be judged by men. Again, inconsistency. BTW, God causes His own to walk in His
statutes regardless of what men may think they see. The fake works of the goats
have faked you out.
[sing: NO, God does not CAUSE His own to walk in His statutes; He DOES command His own to walk in His statutes.]
Roger
BTW, did you check out Deut 13? Do you think James passes
the test?
Sing
Did I read you correctly that you made this statement, "Christ's teaching also contradicted what James is attempting to
promote"???????????
Is your Yes to my question above?
Roger
Just for the record, I believe James belongs in the Bible.
Not all he says is inconsequential. Note that Satan in the garden used a bit of
the truth to conceal the lie (you shall be as gods...), which God confirmed
(now that man has become as us to know good and evil).
Sing
Did I read you correctly that you made this statement, "Christ's teaching also contradicted what James is attempting to promote"???????????
Roger
Did or did not Christ teach that when it comes to good works
that our left should not know what the right is doing? Did not Christ say our
alms should be in private? Did not Christ decry the public display of works to gain the admiration of men? Now, do these teachings align with what you say
James is teaching? Answer these questions...
Sing
Have you not read? I'm happy to answer questions...
Mt 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Roger
What is that light, and what are the good works? Do they have
anything to do with justification? Time for some meat.
Sing
Your basic flaw is to assume there are CONTRADICTIONS in the
word of God!!! And you are the FINAL judge of which is right and wrong, what
passes the test, and what!
Roger
Basing your view on one passage is not wise.
Sing
What justification are you inquiring about... legal
justification before God, practical justification before men, experiential
justification in one's own conscience?
When you figure that out, I will continue with you.
Sing
Speaking of being wise, you have already FOOLISHLY assumed
that there are contradictions in the Bible... and asking impudent questions like
does James pass the test!!!
Roger
Shall we not judge even the smallest of matters? Do we not
have the mind of Christ? You have also judged sing...why do you accuse me of
that which you also have done? Remove. the beam.
Sing
Thanks, Roger. Can't waste further time with you.
Roger
There are no contradictions in the Scriptures, but there are
contradictions in the Bible...
Sing
Profound statement. Thanks.
Roger
Yes, the truth is foolishness to some...
