Romans
8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he
called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
=======
I
will leave some notes.
1. All the divine activities here - predestinating, calling, justifying, and
glorifying - happen to EVERY SINGLE elect.
2.
All the activities here are God's free, sovereign and immediate acts upon each
elect, i.e. without human aid or cooperation. These divine activities are so
tightly linked and connected that it gives no room for human activities. These
activities all deal with ETERNAL salvation - which is by the sole, free, and
sovereign grace of God, plus nothing.
3.
The calling refers to God's act of effectually calling an elect out of his
native state of sin and death to that of grace and salvation in Jesus Christ at God's appointed
and approved time.
-
Each and every elect is effectually called out of his state of sin and death to
that of righteousness and eternal life, at some point in time between his
conception and physical death.
4.
This effectual calling of an elect out of his native state of sin and death to
that of righteousness and eternal life requires these separate and distinct
acts of God, in that logical order and number:
-
justification, the application of the righteousness of Christ to that elect
personally. What was legally imputed at the cross is now applied to him
personally. This application of Christ's righteousness to an elect personally
gives divine warrant for the Holy Spirit to regenerate the justified (vital
aspect) elect.
-
regeneration: the application of Christ's righteousness in the justification of
life gives divine warrant for the Holy Spirit to regenerate the elect.
-
adoption: the regenerated is adopted into the family of God, and is given the
Spirit of adoption to dwell in him.
Chronologically,
they are simultaneous in one effectual call.
The
effectual call out of the state of sin and death to that of righteousness and
eternal life REQUIRES these distinct and separate activities. An elect CAN'T
possibly be in a state of righteousness and eternal life without ALL of these
activities of God.
But
why is justification alone mentioned?
The
answer is very simple. Justification is the justification of life.
'Justification of life' presupposes with it, regeneration as well as adoption, which is
why they are not mentioned separately.
Rom
5:18 "Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to
condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all
men unto justification of life."
With
the justification of life, one is perfectly and completely fitted for eternal
glory... NOTHING ELSE is needed for eternal glory.... that is why nothing else
is stated.
Eternal
salvation is indeed entirely and completely by the free and sovereign grace of
God.
Two
cents answer to a billion-dollar question.
Where
all modern Calvinists go wrong is this:
1.
First they confuse the call as gospel call.
2.
Second they confuse the justification as practical justification by faith,
man's act of believing, in Christ.
No
matter how you try to explain to them, they cannot see the OBVIOUS error of such
notions!
1.
Calvinists, together with their Arminian cousins whom they despise and loathe,
believe that the call is the gospel call.
-
This call is exclusively the work of God, without any human instrumentality
involved!
-
And the call here is true of EVERY SINGLE ELECT without distinction or
exception. So, it CAN'T possibly be the gospel call unto conversion.
-
The call that is true of EVERY SINGLE ELECT without exception is the effectual
call out of their native state of sin and death to that of grace and salvation.
Every elect, without distinction, is called to grace and eternal life. Not
every child of God is called to gospel conversion.
-
The typical and popular understanding of effectual call is this: the gospel call
is blessed and made effective to bring regeneration to sinners dead in
trespasses and sins. Near all Calvinists and their cousins are gospel
regenerationsists.
-
The gospel call made effective to conversion (which is true) and the effectual
call unto grace and salvation are two distinct and different calls.
-
Both the Calvinists and the Arminians confuse the two.
Distinction, or rightly dividing the word of truth, is the essence of sound theology.
They
sincerely and genuinely believe in 'blessed inconsistencies' in the word of God!
They seriously do! Such impudence to attribute inconsistencies to God's
inspired word!
They
won't admit that they are hopelessly confused themselves. They would rather
blame their confusion on inconsistencies in God's pure word!
Where all modern Calvinists go wrong is this:
2.
Second, they confuse the justification as practical justification by faith,
man's act of believing, in Christ.
- Calvinists, together with their Arminian cousins whom they despise and loathe,
believe that the justification spoken of is the practical/experiential
justification through their act of believing. This is consistent with their
error on the call. If the call is the gospel call, then the justification is
necessarily practical justification through believing.
The
practical justification through believing in Christ is the SUM-TOTAL of what
they know of the doctrine of justification taught in the Scriptures. This
cripples them from seeing the other glorious aspects of justification taught so
clearly in the Scriptures.
i. There
is justification purposed by God in eternity. This is accomplished and applied
in time.
ii. There
is justification legally accomplished by Christ at the cross for all the elect.
Righteousness was IMPUTED to all elect. This is justification by the blood of
Christ, by the faith OF Christ, etc.
iii. There
is justification applied to each elect personally by the Holy Spirit
at effectual calling. Righteousness is APPLIED to each one personally. This is the justification by the free grace of God.
iv. There
is justification practically experienced by believing in Jesus Christ. Faith in
Christ enables the justified to experience the blessedness of his justified
state by God's free grace.
v. There
is justification consummated/vindicated on judgment day!
The
haughty Calvinists and their cousins they despise are acquainted with the
practical aspect only - because they are possessed by the lie of sola fidei,
their own faith only.
They
are oblivious of the justification by the blood and faithfulness of Christ, and the free grace
of God in their justification!
They
are obsessed with the practical aspect only, which is indeed by faith.
How
BLASPHEMOUS is the sola fidei LIE!
