Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Will the LORD dare to parade you and me?

#the_LORD_GOd_brooks_no_smearing_of_His_servant_Job

1. The LORD God paraded His servant Job:
"And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Job 1:8

2. But hateful Satan accused and insinuated:
"Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face." Job 1:9-11
- He's just a sham; he's in the game only for gain.
Satan couldn't even deny what the LORD said about Job.

3. The LORD God set out to shame the father of lies:
"And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD." Job 1:12
- The sovereign LORD freely granted Satan what he wanted, "all that he hath is in thy power" and not a jot more.
- The sovereign LORD positively limited Satan to protect His servant Job.

4. The shock and awe strategy of Satan:
The destruction came to Job in wave upon wave, wave upon wave. Job 1:13-19.
- Operation Desert Storm learned and applied the same strategy to Iraq, 😉

5. Job's response vindicated the LORD's boast:
"Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly." Job 1:20-22.
- Job's response delivered a few sharp slaps for the accuser and liar.
- Instead of cursing the LORD to His face, Job fell down upon the ground and worshipped the LORD!
- Instead of cursing the LORD to His face, Job freely acknowledged the LORD's sovereignty in giving and in taking away.
- Instead of cursing the LORD to His face, Job blessed the name of the LORD!

Job was no robot; he was a man of flesh and blood just like any man or woman saved by the grace of God. He felt the great and immense loss, YET  Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

Don't mess around with the LORD's people.

Even Satan, when he took the LORD's bait, was thoroughly humiliated as an accuser and liar.

Will the LORD dare to parade you and me?

O LORD, have mercy and grant grace and strength for each occasion. Amen.
