Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Let God be true, but every man a liar

Offering what, and to who?

I saw this meme on a friend's post. I left this little comment:

Try offering a BigMac to a dead man and then charge him for refusing or not accepting your offer. Try it, Sir. Such an idea (the free offer) not only makes preachers - however sincere and honest - STUPID (lacking common sense) but also attack the character of God.

[I'm guilty; I lack finesse; I don't know how to communicate; I've been chided endless times.]

The gospel of God/Christ/grace speaks thus:
- God purposed redemption for His people,
- Christ accomplished that redemption for the same,
- The Holy Spirit applies that redemption to each one of the same people personally when they were dead in trespasses and sins.

The gospel ministry has been ordained for the instruction and conversion of those whom God the Spirit HAS freely and sovereignly applied the salvation - that which God had purposed and Christ did accomplish and secured.

Any such offer, no matter how sincerely, earnestly, eloquently and impressively made is not good news; the offerees, being dead in trespasses and sins are as dead as can be concerning the offer. Such offer is no act of kindness or mercy to the dead; it is actually wicked mocking and taunting of the dead. Is that tooooo hard to understand?

No, God did not make any offer of salvation; He freely and sovereignly bestows the salvation when the recipients were STILL spiritually dead in trespasses and sin. He did not offer salvation (secured and accomplished by Christ) to any one but freely and sovereignly applies it to each individual personally. He did not offer any "means of grace" to those dead in trespasses and sins.

The means of grace (what are they?) are rightly offered to those who have the ability to use the means; otherwise, it is just plain stupidity, i.e. lacking common sense.

Ephesians 2
4 ¶But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

The super superstitious Chinese offer roast pigs, Peking ducks, abalones, etc to their dead ancestors to show their piety. Multitudes of preachers of all ethnicities "offer the means of grace" (what are they?) to those dead in trespasses and sins - to manifest their stupidity, i.e. lacking common sense.
