Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Are you a daughter of Mother Harlot???

Are you a daughter of Mother Harlot???

The Mother Harlot teaches:
- Legal justification before God is by BOTH faith in Christ AND works of righteousness.

Mother Harlot's daughters amputated one of the two gangrenous limbs, and declared:
- Legal justification is by faith ALONE in Christ.

The Holy Scriptures say, and the old school Baptists believed rightly:

- Legal justification is based solely on the righteousness of Christ alone freely IMPUTED to the elect, and this righteousness legally imputed is freely APPLIED to an elect personally by the Spirit of God at the effectual calling; this justification is TO BE EXPERIENCED through faith in Christ alone, and is EVIDENCED by BOTH works of righteousness and faith in Christ.

Kindly note these distinct aspects of justification!

Justification accomplished:
- by Christ's blood, faith, and righteousness.

Ro 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Ro 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
Ga 2:17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

Justification applied:
- by grace, freely without any condition to an elect STILL in the state of condemnation and death

Ro 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Tit 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Justification experienced and evidenced:
- experienced by faith alone, evidenced by faith and works.

Ro 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

God purposed justification for all His elect... before time.

Christ secured justification for all His elect... at the cross.

The Spirit applies justification to each elect... at effectual calling out of the state of sin and death to that of grace and salvation.

The gospel ministry brings an already effectually called elect, a child of God, to the gospel of his justification by God's free grace. Believing the truth of his salvation brings great joy.

Amen, Bro. Sing!

Thanks, Bro Sing, very simply stated.

Amen! Bro. Sing...

Abram was justified by faith before he was circumcised... and in the book of James, Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

'a man may say', is not a man hast faith...

So this is about having the right type of faith...

Cantoro, please tell me when was Abraham justified BY GOD. Thanks.

Cantoro Joe
Gen 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
Gen 17--> circumcised
Gen 22 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

believe (or faith), Abraham was declared as righteous, before circumcised... then Gen 22 shows the righteous works that follow...

So there's no such thing as works outside 'justified by faith' that can please God. I'm not saying that our works following conversion can save us, but they will be evidence

I'd wait for other comments... the meantime, back to studying God's word... pursuing my goal of understanding the whole Bible...

will be going to City Harvest church at about 9 plus to have a first-hand look at the worship service....

Sing F Lau
Cantoro, studying this article will do you more good than going to City Harvest.

Mama always told me that I don't have to stick my head into a garbage bin to have first-hand knowledge that it stinks <LOOOL> Wise Mama!

Read, and study and digest the points raised. May save you from some serious errors!!!

Goodnight!

Hey Cantoro Joe, so did you read the article above?
May our Lord grant you understanding!
Don't be TOOOOOOOOOOO stuck in your idea of "reformed theology" to learn the truth of the Bible!!!

Cantoro Joe
Yea... I did... but not very convinced... I'm in the process of reading my bible cover to cover again... of course, I hope to come as close to scripture as possible

Sing F Lau
"Not very convinced..." Convinced but not VERY convinced! <LOOOOL>

Cantoro Joe, I am NOT interested in convincing you! That is the Spirit's job!

My purpose is to make you aware that 'reformed theology" has a whole lot of inconsistencies and contradictions, not as smooth as you think!!! When an honest and thinking man is confronted with inconsistencies and contradictions, he will either choose to seek to be consistent or choose to live with HIS inconsistencies and contradictions!

People who say not convinced but offer no rebuttal are best to be ignored!

They are not honest enough to engage with the issue yet!
