Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

The Lord-centred evangelism

"Feed my lambs... Feed my sheep...Feed my sheep..."
No, I didn't say, Help me to produce them!
Can't you understand a simple instruction?

October 31, 2010

The Lord-centred evangelism:
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded...

The man-centred  evangelism:
19. Go ye therefore, and offer salvation to every one.
20. Begging the dead in trespasses and sins to accept Christ, so that they may be regenerated, and be saved.

Teach all nations - not just the Jews, but all people groups. God has His children (i.e. elect that are already regenerated - directly and immediately by the divine work of the Holy Spirit, without any preacher's aid!) in every ethnos, people group.

"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands." Rev 7:9

The Lord's disciples were sent out to TEACH God's children, teach them the truth of their free grace salvation, and the ways of godliness becoming for God's children.

Deluded people go out in Christ's name, to offer salvation to those that are dead in trespasses and sins.

To offer salvation to them that perish is the height of folly of the preachers, and also the zenith of insult and injury and mockery to the dead! And those preachers think you are very loving in sincerely offering salvation to all the dead! Is there a greater way to mock the dead than to offer them salvation on the condition that they believe?

To offer salvation to them that ARE SAVED, it is no less foolish because the offer comes too late. It is also a great affront to God who has already bestowed them salvation by His free grace What shameless audacity... are they insinuating that God is a liar? Then why behave as though God Himself has not bestowed the eternal salvation in Christ Jesus?

And where do all those preachers get the idea from that they were sent out to offer salvation to every one? Who sent them out to do such a thing? Themselves? Their church? Their mission board? What presumption and delusion!

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."

Apostle Paul is making a universal statement of truth, the present tense form of the whole statement confirms that. Present indicative presents an indicative statement of fact that is always true in every situation.

The gospel is ALWAYS perceived as foolishness when it comes to the perishing ones. The same gospel is the good news about the power of God in salvation to them that ARE SAVED (present passive middle participles - those ALREADY effectually called to grace and salvation).

When the gospel comes to them that ARE SAVED... it is believed as the good news of God's power in saving them.

It is not that the gospel comes to them that are lost, and the Spirit uses it to regenerate them, and they believe, and got saved! That's the heresy of gospel regeneration!

The gospel is ordained to bring to light the life and immortality in them that ARE SAVED.

"But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles."

Please note "hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel."

The Reformation That Matters

"Scriptures Alone" is good,
but Scriptures rightly divided
far more important.

The Reformation That Matters
The only reformation that matters in the Scriptures was the one that happened between AD30-70 when the old covenant was being done away with, and the new covenant was established!

Heb 9:
8 ¶ The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

So many rant and rave about the 16th century Reformation.

The RCC cannot be reformed... reforming mother harlots had only produced the daughters of harlots! This is why the Reformed churches are still tainted with the lies of the RCC.

Do you want an obvious example? Here is one!

RCC declares and insists: "justification is by both works and faith."

Her protestant reformed daughters rant and rave: "justification is by faith alone."

When you reform an error, you will still end up with another shade of error. And error must be repudiated, not reformed.

Truth must be sought from the Scriptures alone, not adjusting the RCC errors.

Scriptures say, justification is by the righteousness of Christ alone, which is applied freely by God's grace alone, and its blessings is experienced through faith alone in Christ Jesus.

RCC sprinkles babies... all her reformed daughters do the same!

Do you need more examples?

Those who shout 'sola scriptura' the loudest are the worst enemies of the Scriptures because they always appeal to their reformers, and not the Scriptures! They are the greatest jokers!

Those who rave and rant 'sola fidei' incessantly are the worst enemies of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They twist and pervert faith, the act of believing and resting in Christ, as the MEANS to experience the blessedness of the justification already applied by God's free grace based on Christ's righteousness into the MEANS to obtain that justification before God!

this is plainly obvious to us all, especially the baptism mode of RCC and her silly daughters!!! all the same...

Sing
Supposing a benefactor FREELY credited a $1b into your personal account as well as paid off ALL your debt while you were condemned and declared bankrupt.

He then sent someone to bring the good news to you. (Good news is news of what has happened; the good news is not a conditional offer!).

And supposing you believed the good news of the benefactor's FREE and gracious act, and by faith, you went to the bank to draw on the money.

Wouldn't it be SCANDALOUS and TREACHEROUS and CRIMINAL of you to claim and insist that it was your believing the good news and going to the bank THAT CAUSED the gift to be freely credited to your account?

And yet that is EXACTLY what the reformed daughters of RCC claim they are justified before God by or through their faith in Jesus Christ, i.e. their believing is the instrumental cause for Christ's righteousness to be imputed to them! No believing, no imputation, they foam!

Do you begin to understand the great issue involved?

The Mother harlot and all her daughters still embrace the same lies, despite all the reformation talks!

The reformed daughters of Rome insist that their believing is the instrumental cause for their justification before God, i.e. for Christ's righteousness to be imputed to them! No believing, no imputation, they foam!

Now, these daughters of Rome are saying that men without the imputed righteousness of God, therefore still under condemnation and death (that's what an unjustified state is!), are able to believe in order to be justified by God.

It is exactly like an insane man raving, 'a dead man must breathe in order to receive life' - his breathing is the instrumental cause for him to get life.

And folk still glory in that reformation!

Did Jesus come in AD 70?

Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation,
such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time,
no, nor ever shall be.

"Did Jesus come in AD 70?" - a man asked rhetorically.

Answer: He most certainly did come in judgment upon Israel...

Matthew 24
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

That's "the day of the LORD" prophesied so often against Israel in the OT.

For example:
Isaiah 2
1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem...12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

Amos 5
1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel...18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light...19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him... 20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?... 21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

Zepheniah 1
1 The word of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah...
14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

The LORD God is finished with the old covenant theocratic Israel!

Those who hope for the restoration of geriatric Israel are not only deluded and deceived, but shall be very disappointed.

The same man challenged rhetorically:
~~ Explain Isaiah 11:12? He will raise a signal for the nations and will assemble the banished of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah. ~~

Mt 24:31
"And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."

"... they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."

Acts 1
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

"... And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, OUT OF EVERY NATION UNDER HEAVEN."

Mt 24:14
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

This speaks of the gospel preached to the Jews scattered in all nations as a witness, and Israel, the old covenant theocratic nation SHALL END... i.e in 70AD.

"End" signifies "the limit," either at which a person or thing ceases to be what he or it was up to that point.

The GERIATRIC Israel had been folded up and destroyed for good, CEASED TO BE. There is no more place for anything representing the old covenant, or will the old ever be revived!

But many love FABLES.

#Blind_to_Inconsistencies
#Plain_Contradictions

It says:
Grace Alone, the Only Method
"Our justification and salvation are both solely by the sovereign grace of God and not dependent upon any action or condition man provides."

Faith Alone, the Only Means
"Our justification before God is by faith in Christ alone, and not by works."

--------------------------

Do you see some glaring contradictions between those two Reformed statements?
Let me leave a few questions for your consideration:

1. If justification is indeed solely by the sovereign grace of God, can it be by man's act of believing at the same time?

2. If justification is indeed not dependent upon any action man provides, then what is that faith (man's act of believing) in Christ doing there?

The Protestants will retort, "but faith is the gift of God; it is not an act of man!"
- That gift enables a man to believe but his action/work of believing is the necessary action to his justification by God, isn't it?

- Believing in Christ is an action man provides; it is a work he does. Check 6:28-29.

3. If justification is not dependent upon any condition man provides, then what is that "by faith in Christ alone" - is that not stating a condition that must be met for his justification by God to take place?

Means - noun, an action, a method by which a result is achieved. (OED)

4. What does faith, as the only means, meant to accomplish?

5. What is the divinely ordained purpose of faith as the only means?

That's THE question; if you have understood grace, you will give the right answer.

2Ti 2:7 "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things."

1Co 14:38 "But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant."

Molly Ooi
All too deep for me Bro Sing. Now I just want to go to church to worship God as He alone is worthy of worship. In my quiet time, I just want to read the Bible on my own, to abide in God, love Him, adore Him and hear His voice through His Word. The Holy Spirit is my teacher.

We need a church that is nearby & accessible so I can drive there, with a lift for seniors like us with knees and back problems and also OKU-friendly (cos I have OKU friends). Since our church has closed, we must continue worshipping rather than not going to church at all. I believe every church is a house of God for us to worship Him and have fellowship with other believers. Sermons in my present church follow the books of the bible - now we are on Colossians. Likewise scripture readings (now Exodus). We also read the Heidelberg

Confession. We don't go into what differentiates churches but focus on what unites them ie the Lord Jesus Christ. My elder says it's not for us to judge others. If we or they err, the Lord will deal with us and them.

Sing
Sister Molly, I'm glad you and David are able to settle into a church to continue to worship God.

No gospel truth is too deep for a renewed mind to fathom. It involves simple thinking and reasoning process.

Consistency is a precious jewel we need to hold fast.

The church in Ephesus is commended by the Lord for discerning and pointing out liars.
Rev 2:2 "I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars."

They did judge others as liars. Pointing out errors is not judging others. Pointing out errors is an act of love to those in errors, that they may repent of their errors and turn to the truth of God.

James 5

19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; 20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

You and I are COMMANDED to judge, yes, judge righteous judgment.

John 7:24 KJV — Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

"The just shall live by faith" - what does it mean?

October 31, 2019
https://www.facebook.com/sing.f.lau/posts/10214915847105164

The Scriptures declare, repeatedly, "The just shall live by faith."

Habakkuk 2:4 KJV — Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

Romans 1:17 KJV — For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Galatians 3:11 KJV — But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Hebrews 10:38 KJV — Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

"The just shall live by faith" is evidently an indicative statement declaring a fact about the just, i.e. the just shall live by faith. It is not a subjunctive proposition how an unjustified (i.e. still in his native state of condemnation) man can be justified. The latter is a common and popular view.

It is like taking the indicative statement "whosoever eats has life" as making a subjunctive proposition to the dead that if he eats, life will be given to him.

Let's make some inquiries about the indicative statement "the just shall live by faith." I'm giving my answers; feel free to give yours to the questions.

1. Who shall live by faith?
A. The just.

2.  Who are the just?
A. Those formerly in their native state of condemnation but whom God has freely justified, without them doing anything; they were incapable of any, being dead in trespasses and sins.

3. When were they freely justified by God?
A. When God effectually called them out of their native state of sin and condemnation to that of grace and salvation in Jesus Christ while they were in their native state of death and condemnation, spiritually dead in trespasses and sins.
- In effectually calling them out of their native state of sin and condemnation to that of grace and salvation in Jesus Christ, God freely justified them, regenerated them, and adopted them. These three divine activities - justification, regeneration, and adoption - in that number and logical order, are necessary to bring the condemned, dead, and alienated sinner into the state of righteousness, life and reconciliation, i.e. the state of grace and salvation.

4. Did their believing/faith play any role in their justification by God's free grace?
A. No, they were incapable of faith in their unjustified state. Faith is an effect of justification; it is the just who shall live by faith; only the justified are capable of believing and exercising faith.

5. On what ground did the righteous God freely justify justly condemned sinners?
A. The righteous God freely justified them solely on the ground of Christ's righteousness accounted to them; the righteousness of His own provision through His Son Jesus is the sole ground of God freely justifying condemned sinners..

6. Why are the just able to believe?
A. The justified are regenerated because the justification is the justification of life.

Romans 5:18 "Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life."

When Christ's righteousness is accounted to a sinner personally in the justification of life by the Father based on the righteousness of Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit regenerates the justified and works in him all saving graces, including faith. Gal 5:22. This grace of faith worked in him enabling him to believe the truth of the salvation ALREADY freely bestowed.

7. What is it to live by faith?
A. To live by faith is to receive and rest in Christ and His righteousness alone for our acceptance with God, and walking in obedience to Him, not trusting in our own works of righteousness.

Believing the gospel of Christ, he EXPERIENCES the blessings of his justified state. That's what Abraham experienced in Gen 15:1-6. Abraham was already justified by God when God called him out of Ur way back in Gen 11.

These are simple gospel truths to those not crippled by prejudices and soundbites

 2Ti 2:7
Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
