Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Stop your sacrifice of fools

Keep thy foot; don't let it stray!

Eccl  5:1 "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil."

1Ti 3:15 "But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

======

- How should you prepare for the sanctuary of God and the preaching of His word?

- Pray for God the Holy Spirit to convict and persuade all to greater godliness.

- Plan to arrive on time in a sober and ready mind to receive God’s word.

- When the men are praying in the back room, you should be praying.

- When the scriptures are read publicly, you should follow attentively.

- When prayers are made in the pulpit, you should follow prayerfully.

- When congregational singing occurs, you should participate fully.

- When time for the preaching, you should focus with all your might and apply it to yourself for changes.
