Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things" 2Ti 2:7.

There is a spiritual battle each time
you sit under the preaching of the word of God.

"Hear ye, therefore, the parable of the sower." Mt 13:18

Take careful note - there is a spiritual battle each time you sit under the preaching of the word of God.

"Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God." Luke 8:11

Matthew 13:19 KJT
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

Mark 4:15 KJT
And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

Luke 8:12 KJT
Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

The wicked one, i.e. the devil, Satan, intends to prevent you from profiting from the preached word of God. Don't be a careless and flippant hearer! Pay close attention; hear and understand what is preached; if you don't understand, make a sincere effort to find out until you understand and treasure it in your heart. What is not understood will not remain with you - "When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and UNDERSTANDETH IT NOT, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart."

2Timothy 31 KJT
16 ¶All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Therefore, fight a good fight of faith each time the word of God is heard so that it is not preached and heard in vain - bringing no real profit to you.

Let us not come under these indictments:
