"I
believe the misunderstanding of the phrase "eternally begotten" is
this: it means that the Father/Son relationship had no beginning, as opposed to
a temporally begotten Son, which would have to have a beginning.
"I've
said it before and I'll say it again: one who is not a son and becomes a son is
an adopted son, not a begotten son. A begotten son must have been a son as long
as he has been in existence. Thus, the relationship cannot have a beginning; it
must be eternal (having no beginning or end) in nature. This is difficult for
our minds to comprehend as we are bound by the laws of space and time, but God
is not bound by the laws of space and time."

At
best, they're speculations; at worse, it's plainly contrary to plain
revelation; just my opinion, of course.
John
1
1
¶In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God.
2
The same was in the beginning with God...
14
¶And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the
glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John
1:1,14 DO NOT read, but so many do make them read thus:
"In
the beginning was the Son, and the Son was with God, and the Son was God... And
the Son was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory
as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

"One who is not a son and becomes a son is an adopted son, not a begotten
son."
No,
one who is not the son and becomes the son is the eternal Word.
One
who is not the son and becomes the son is the eternal Word; when the eternal
Word was made flesh by God at a specific point in time, the Word who was made
flesh by God BECOMES the only begotten Son of God, NOT an adopted son.
The
Word is the one-natured divine Being; the Son is the Word made flesh, a
dual-natured divine-human Being, the only begotten Son of God. There isn't
another begotten like Him.

"A begotten son must have been a son as long as he has been in existence.
Thus, the relationship cannot have a beginning; it must be eternal (having no
beginning or end) in nature."
As
soon as the eternal Word was made flesh, we have the begotten Son; thus the
relationship began at a specific point in time, i.e. WHEN the Word was made
flesh. Thus, the relationship has a specific beginning but remains immutably
so.
Jesus
Christ, the only begotten Son of God is the same YESTERDAY and to day, and for
ever.
Hebrews 13:8 KJT. "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."
"Yesterday"
was not that many years ago when Apostle Paul wrote those words.
1
Timothy 2:5 KJT
For
there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
"The
man Christ Jesus" was begotten and has a beginning, when the eternal Word,
was made flesh.
@"God
is not bound by the laws of space and time."
Indeed,
God is above the laws of His creation. However, God speaks to His children who
are bound by the laws of time, space and matter; He does not speak above their
mental capacity, over their heads; He speaks to be understood by, and
profitable unto, His children.
2 Timothy 3:16 KJT "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."
