Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

To us which are saved...

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God"?

This is such a plain and simple declaration by the Apostle Paul. However, the wise and prudent - the elitist Calvinists and their despised cousins Arminians - don't get its plain sense and continue to hold on to their cherished fable, the fiction of gospel regeneration, i.e. their gospel preaching is a necessary instrument for the Spirit to effect His work of regenerating the dead.

CAN'T you see that such a notion is completely repudiated by the Apostolic statement,
"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God"?

The gospel preaching comes to two distinct groups of people: "them that perish" and "us which ARE saved."

"Us which are saved" are there FIRST, gospel preaching is brought to them. Don't you get that? And because they ARE SAVED, they perceived the gospel of Jesus Christ as declaring the power of saving them.

The same glorious gospel is perceived as foolishness by the other group; the simple and plain reason is that spiritual things are spiritually discerned, and except a man be born again, he cannot see spiritual things.

This is as plain as day BUT the gospel regenerationists insist that they are preaching the gospel to those dead in trespasses and sins - i.e. "them that perish" - and as they preach, the Holy Spirit uses their preaching to regenerate their hearers; they are instrumental in the regeneration of those dead in trespasses and sins. Give themselves a pat on the back!

They are not content with the lofty role of converting those already saved, by God's free grace, to the truth of their salvation.

Who has bewitched them??
