Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

The gospel in a nutshell

The gospel in a nutshell:
Jesus Christ:
- the only begotten Son of the eternal God, appointed as the Substitute of His people, those whom God had chosen in eternity and given to Him as their Redeemer
- lived the perfect sinless life they cannot live, died the death they deserved to die, and rose for their legal justification;
- secured the necessary righteousness for their vital justification by the free and sovereign grace of God;
- bore upon Himself their sins and suffered the full condemnation and guilt in their stead;
- The Spirit of God applies the eternal salvation to each of the redeemed of Christ, at God's appointed time when they are still dead in trespasses and sins;
- such are then called upon to believe the gospel, the good news of what the Triune God HAS DONE to save them; their faith/believing evidence them as HAVING BEEN SAVED, freely by the Triune God.

That's the good news, the saved are called the believe the truth of the salvation by God's free grace in Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:18 KJV — For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

2 Corinthians 2:15-17 KJV —
15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
