Romans 3:23 - KJV
"Being justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."
Romans 8 - KJV
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of
God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ
that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of
God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Those whom God HAS JUSTIFIED freely by His
grace "can never fall from the state of justification."
This gospel truth is beautifully summarised
in the 5th paragraph of 1689.11 -
"God doth continue to (o) Forgive the
sins of those that are justified, and although they can never fall from the
state of (p) justification; yet they may by their sins fall under God's (q)
Fatherly displeasure; and in that condition, they have not usually the light of
his Countenance restored unto them, until they (r) humble themselves, confess
their sins, beg pardon, and renew their faith, and repentance."
Why are those whom God has justified freely
His grace can never fall from the state of justification? Very simple indeed;
no human factor whatsoever was involved in their justification: the BASIS is
solely Christ and His active and passive obedience (i.e. "the redemption
that is in Christ Jesus") alone, and the MANNER is solely by God's free
grace alone. Faith on man's part is emphatically and repeatedly fenced off and
jealousy excluded.
Read it again. Why are the RBs so obtuse?
What has bewitched them? The devil has so subtly substituted this wonderful
truth with the lie of sola fidei - introducing a fickle human factor into the
equation of the justification of condemned sinners by God.
