Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

The Babe, and The Young Child - the Saviour, Christ the Lord

And when they were come into the HOUSE,
they saw the YOUNG CHILD with Mary his mother,
and fell down, and worshipped him:
and when they had opened their treasures,
they presented unto him gifts;
gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

To the humble Jewish shepherds : The Babe - Saviour, Christ the Lord;
To the wise gentiles of the east : The Young Child - King of the Jews

The shepherds saw the BABE in the manger.
The wise men from the east met the YOUNG CHILD in the home of Joseph and Mary.

Luke 2
11 For unto you is born THIS DAY in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the BABE wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us NOW go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the BABE lying in a MANGER.

Matthew 2
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the YOUNG CHILD; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the YOUNG CHILD was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 And when they were come into the HOUSE, they saw the YOUNG CHILD with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

18 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from TWO YEARS OLD AND BELOW, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
