Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

I beg your pardon, who accepted who?

And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
I beg your pardon, who accepted who?

So very often we hear 'I accepted Christ... blah blah blah...' testimony from good and sincere Christians. Have such dear folks ever understood the gospel of grace, the good news as revealed in the Scriptures?

Brethren, it is God's ACCEPTANCE of us helpless condemned sinners in Christ Jesus that matters. Nothing else does.

Let us rejoice in the glorious truth set forth so plainly in Eph 1:6 "... to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."

He has made us accepted in the beloved! Amen!

He (our Creator as well as Redeemer) has made us (poor helpless lost condemned sinners) accepted, and continues to accept us - present perfect tense! He accepted us in His beloved Son, and continues to accept us, now, and unto eternity!

It is the greater that accepts the lesser; the weaker needs the acceptance of the stronger. The rich benefactor does not need the acceptance of the beggar at all, although the poor beggar is in desperate needs to cast himself completely at the grace and mercy of the rich benefactor! It is presumptuous for a needy beggar to speak of his acceptance of the rich benefactor!

It is the just and holy God that has accepted the condemned and unrighteous sinners, and this acceptance is wholly by His free and sovereign grace based solely on the righteousness and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the sinner that needs the Saviour's acceptance.

The thrice holy God accepts the guilty condemned sinners after he had made them accepted in the beloved Lord Jesus Christ... through the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ.

Blessed be the Lord our God!
And watch your words!
