Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

To this end WAS I BORN...

To this end WAS I BORN...

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child IS BORN, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Matthew 2:2
Saying, Where is he that IS BORN King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Luke 1:35
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be BORN of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Luke 2:11
For unto you IS BORN this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only BEGOTTEN of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only BEGOTTEN Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only BEGOTTEN Son...

John 18:37
Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end WAS I BORN, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth...

Jesus is BORN... and He is the only BEGOTTEN of God.

Yes, Jesus is BORN, and BEGOTTEN at a particular point in time.

There was a time when Jesus did not exist. Before the Word was made flesh, there was no Jesus, the God-man. The Word is eternal, but the Word was not the Son. The Son is the eternal Word made flesh in time.

The Word is the one-natured eternally existing Divine Being.

The Son Jesus is the dual-natured Divine/human Being, the eternal Word made flesh.

But I am told that Jesus is ETERNAL, that Jesus the God-MAN is eternal, and that eternal Jesus became manifest, was made flesh!

They say 'born' doesn't mean has a beginning or 'begotten' doesn't mean brought into being when these words are used in relation to Jesus the Man! All these because of the notion, 'Jesus is eternal.'

Before I get more confused by strange notions, I had better go to bed.

It WAS NOT the Son that was made flesh.
It was the Word that was made flesh.
The Son is the Word made flesh.

If i may, i just wanna say... "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." - II John1:7

Sing F Lau
The deceiver insists that Jesus the Son of God of flesh and bone is ETERNAL, but the Bible repeatedly declares that Jesus is conceived and born ... the only begotten of the Father.

Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Word was made flesh, i.e. become partakers of flesh and blood... and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father...

Right, amen.

For unto you is BORN this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)

IS BORN... a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

That which is born is Jesus the Son, even the begotten Son of God. That which is born is the man Jesus, the eternal un-begotten Word made flesh, i.e. the eternal Word took upon Himself flesh and blood... so that the man Jesus is perfectly fitted to be the Saviour of His people.

A man is needed to be the substitute for men. A perfect and sinless man alone is adequate for that role... which is why Jesus was uniquely begotten as described in Lu 1:35 "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be BORN of thee shall be called the Son of God."

Why do people insist that Jesus is eternal when the Scriptures declared Him as 'IS BORN THIS DAY'???

'Jesus' is his personal name, disclosing His work as Saviour.

'Christ' describes His office as the Anointed One.

'Lord' is his title, declaring his deity.

Jesus the Son of God is God, the Word made flesh is BOTH divine and human.

I agree that He did not have that body before it was conceived in Mary's womb.

Sing F Lau
I agree that He did not have that body before it was conceived in Mary's womb.

Jesus is that man conceived in the womb of Mary, the eternal Word made flesh.

Who is 'He' that did not have that body before it was conceived in Mary's womb? The divine Word, or Jesus?

What is the 'it' that was conceived in Mary's womb?
