Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

The Devil can quote Scriptures much better than you do

December 6, 2015  ·

Matthew 4:6,
"And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone."

Some observations:

1. The Devil can quote Scriptures too, and he is pretty good at it.
- He has been at it since the time in the Garden of Eden!

2. The Devil quotes Scriptures not to instruct the truth of God, but invariably to twist and pervert it, to mislead God's children to disobey God their Father.

3. The Devil peddled his craft on Jesus Christ; you can be sure you won't be exempted! So beware!

4. God's promises of protection and preservation are no license for presumption.
- Ps 91:11 "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."

5. The word of God must be rightly divided.
- 2Tim 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
- If you need to quote Scriptures, be prepared to rightly divide it. That's Apostolic example.

What apt, and needful reminders.

There were a few occasions when I needed to remind a few "quoty" people that the Devil can quote Scriptures far better than they do, and I'm not the least impressed with the sound byte of their quotes!

Those who rightly divide the word of truth do impress me, and I'm thankful for each one of them. Thank you, Lord.
