Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Preaching the gospel of salvation truthfully

Preaching the gospel of salvation truthfully

Commanding ALL MEN to believe in Jesus Christ can only be done honestly and truthfully if Christ has indeed died for ALL MEN. Otherwise, where is the basis of telling that to ALL MEN, and commanding ALL MEN to believe that Jesus Christ has died for them? Doesn't that amount to commanding some men to believe a big lie? No? Why not?

Surely there must be a way to tell the truth, and tell it truthfully, and according to what Christ has actually done.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

He did not come to do sinner's or preachers' will! Just remember that please!

John 17
1 ¶ These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

AS MANY AS... not one more and not one less.

Presenting the truth of the gospel of salvation must be according to the truth of the matter, not some whims and fancies of men!

There is NO VIRTUE in misrepresenting what Christ has done. Exaggeration and untruthfulness are not virtues but vices!!!

I hope you don't mind, but I shared this one. John 6:37

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

All those that are GIVEN SHALL come.

Dellis Layne Worsham Sr., please read about the two comings here in John 6:37 - http://things-new-and-old.blogspot.com/.../john-637-two-comings.html

Tell me what you think!

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Each and every elect comes to Christ by having BEING drawn to Christ and united with Him by the sovereign and gracious act of the Father.

Each of the above who does come to Christ through the gospel call, Christ will in no wise cast out!

Two different and distinct comings.

A biblical distinction is the essence of sound theology. Thanks.

Wei Yan, that's a good passage.
'My sheep' - refers to the elect given to Christ by God.

"hear My voice" - the sheep dead in their trespasses and sins, hear the life-giving voice of the Son of God, summoning them out of their deadness to eternal life.

'I know them, and they follow me' must be understood in the context above. In the context above every sheep hears the life-giving voice of Christ.

The dead hearing Christ's life-giving voice is distinct from God's children hearing the voice of the preachers calling for their conversion to the truth of their salvation.
