Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

A young man hallucinating about his WCF on "sola fide"

Luther's justification BEFORE God by faith alone is a doctrine of the devil
- the most pernicious heresy invented and perpetrated by the
16th century Reformation.

A condemned man's justification before God is
by the righteousness of Christ alone,
and applied freely by God's grace alone.
Faith alone in Jesus Christ is the instrument to experience

the blessedness of that justified state by God's free grace.

Sing F Lau
The most damnable and pernicious heresy that has ever been invented by the Reformation, was the idea that a condemned man is JUSTIFIED before God the righteous Judge through his faith.

Justification by faith alone, the popular "sola fide", is a doctrine of the devil!
Things New and Old: Sola fide is a great and injurious lie of the devil!

WOW! I don't think I have ever seen a more blatant rejection of the Gospel. Presumably Sing Lau thinks he can justifies himself by his works
[This is a pathetic way of engaging in a discussion!!! sing]

Daniel, both of your statements are quite wrong.

If you wish to know what is the gospel I embrace, take a look here:

And if you want to know how I am justified before God, see here:
I'm justified by God's free grace [the manner of my justification] ALONE based on the righteousness of Jesus Christ ALONE [the basis of my justification]

Enjoy yourself. I won't have access to computer until midnight.

Denying the instrumentality of faith for justification, as you have done, is heresy still. It is contrary to the Reformed tradition, which declares:

Westminster Short Catechism
Q. 33. What is justification?
A. Justification is an act of God’s free grace, wherein he pardoneth all our sins, and accepteth us as righteous in His sight, only for the righteousness of Christ imputed to us, and received by faith alone

Q. 85. What doth God require of us, that we may escape his wrath and curse, due to us for sin?
A. To escape the wrath and curse of God, due to us for sin, God requireth of us faith in Jesus Christ, repentance unto life, with the diligent use of all the outward means whereby Christ communicateth to us the benefits of redemption.

Westminster Larger Catechism:
Q. 73. How doth faith justify a sinner in the sight of God?
A. Faith justifies a sinner in the sight of God, not because of those other graces which do always accompany it, or of good works that are the fruits of it, nor as if the grace of faith, or any act thereof, were imputed to him for his justification; but only as it is an instrument by which he receiveth and applieth Christ and his righteousness.

Daniel H Chew
If faith is not needed for justification, then by logical deduction it means that a person can be justified apart from faith. Therefore, a person does not need to have faith in Christ and still can be saved. That person can be a pagan all his life, yet because of God's *grace*, that person is saved.

Sola gratia sola fide articulus stantits et candentis ecclesiae. Non credentibus in hanc veritatem non salvi sunt.

The premises of most religion is that god makes defective products, ie, everyone is born a sinner; needs to redeem himself, this very notion has caused countless of people to doubt themselves; just as many to take advantage of them to cleanse their sins ..........Damm, I should hv become a pastor.

Daniel, so it is no longer Scriptures ALONE? Sola Scriptura isjust a shibboleth, right?
It is by Reformed TRADITIONS!!!
OK since you appealed to the WCF, let me quote the WCF 11.1 for you.

"Those whom God effectually calleth, he also freely justifieth:
not by infusing righteousness into them, but by pardoning their sins, and by accounting and accepting their persons as righteous; not for any thing wrought in them, or done by them, but for Christ's sake alone; not by imputing faith itself, the act of believing, or any other evangelical obedience to them, as their righteousness; but by imputing the obedience and satisfaction of Christ unto them, they receiving and resting on him and his righteousness by faith; which faith they have not of themselves, it is the gift of God."

Isn't it so clear that faith PLAYS NO ROLE whatsoever in God's act of justifying the condemned sinner.

Do you see the three sets of "
NOT BY/FOR.... BUT BY/FOR"?
i. "NOT BY infusing righteousness..."
ii. "NOT FOR any thing wrought in them, or done by them " - faith is a grace wrought in them, is it not??? Believing is an act done by them, is it not?
iii. "NOT BY imputing faith itself, the act of believing..." Forget the utter foolishness of appealing to Gen 15:6 for your sola fide fiction!

Isn't it made EXPLICITLY clear that faith, the act of believing, is COMPLETELY excluded from God's free and gracious act of justifying a condemned sinner?

That gracious act of God in justifying the condemned sinner FREELY - SOMETHING ALREADY COMPLETED - is then received by faith. Faith receives and rests on Christ and His righteousness, the basis of his free grace justification by God.

Do you even understand what is plainly stated???
Take off your colored glasses lah!!!

Saying a few words in Latin may impress some people!!! Thanks.

It is precisely that a man is justified FREELY by God's grace that it is the gospel!!!

To be justified by faith... a man
- must have the mental capacity to hear and comprehend, and believe...
- must have the opportunity to hear the gospel...
- must have a human preacher to preach the gospel, and preach faithfully...

You can have that - a man's justification before God is dependent and conditioned upon those many human factors!

I thank God for the gospel of free grace... He justifies the condemned FREELY by His grace... without any man meeting any condition!!!

Think for minute, if you are thinking at all, and not just regurgitating what you have been fed with. An un-justified man is a man still in the state of condemnation, a man without the righteousness of Jesus Christ accounted to him, therefore still under the condemnation of death.

The reformed people think such a person can believe in order for God to justify him!

The reformed people also think God give the gift of faith to one still under the condemnation of death so that he may utilize that gift and be justified by God!

Are you even thinking? Do some thinking... and stop regurgitating reformed shibboleth!

Stan, you are grievously wrong on many counts:

1. In Christianity, God made no defective products.
- Gen 1:31 ¶ And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
- Sinners are self-made... through their disobedience.

2. In Christianity, it is God Himself who redeems sinners freely.
- "Salvation is of the LORD."
- In man-made religions, sinners need to redeem themselves!!!

3. In Christianity, there is no doubt in the salvation provided by God in Jesus Christ.
- Christ has accomplished the redemption of His people. The redeemed are called to believe the truth of their redemption.

4. If you are not called by Jesus Christ, you will be a good hireling, not a pastor of His church!
