Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Christ DID save BUT NOT through any man's faith...

(Meme on B B Warfield is taken from Protestant Reformation Facebook page.)

Christ DID NOT save through any man's faith;

His salvation is freely bestowed to those
STILL dead in trespasses and sins.

Addiction to "sola fide" has blinded many
to this plain and obvious gospel truth.

Benjamin B Warfield, one of the revered reformed theologians, can't even get it right even after some careful qualifications. Man's faith is still somehow sneaked into the equation of salvation by grace alone. Men have that evil propensity to synergize divine grace in a most subtle manner.

Listen to the simple Bible truth set forth by John Gill, without doubt, one of the greatest Baptist theologians ever raised up by God.

"Faith is not the cause, but the fruit and effect of justification. The reason why we are justified, is not because we have faith; but the reason why we have faith is because we are justified...."

Faith is an effect of salvation freely and sovereign bestowed to an elect while still dead in trespasses and sins; it is those that ARE ALREADY SAVED by God, by His free and sovereign grace, who are able to believe. A man's faith plays NO ROLE whatsoever in his salvation by God's free grace other than to evidence that the believer has been saved by God.

Christ DID NOT save through faith; faith is an effect of salvation freely bestowed; salvation freely bestowed makes faith possible.

Addiction to the fable of "sola fide" has blinded even some of the most erudite minds! How subtle is the devil!
