Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things" 2Ti 2:7.

Life given to you, and the life you must get for yourself

The life your parents have given you and the life you must labour to get for yourself are two distinct and different life.

This is plain and simple. The former is the cause and enables the latter; in the former, you were completely passive, you were brought into being; in the latter, you are instructed by your parents to get a life.

Even so, the salvation which God had purposed and Christ accomplished, and the Holy Spirit freely applies to each elect and the salvation they must work out for themselves with fear and trembling are two distinct and different salvation.

This too is as simple. The former is the cause and enables the latter; in the former, you were effectually called out of your native state of condemnation and death into that of justification and eternal life; in the latter, you are taught to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling by doing the will of your Father.

Why do seemingly intelligent Christians reject such a plain and simple truth?

I can think of one reason only; it is given by the Lord Himself:

Mat 11:25 "At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes."
