Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Calvinists and Arminians are more like twins

This meme is an example of the Calvinists poking fun at the Arminians

This meme is posted on the "Biblical Calvinism" page, here:

Take off your coloured glasses and take a close look. While it is intended by the Calvinists to poke fun at their cousin Arminians, the meme itself betrays on the Calvinists' own error. It is like the pot calling kettle black!

 Can you tell what's wrong?

Romans 8
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

God's divine attribute of omniscience, i.e. His power to know all things in advance, and His divine act of foreknowing a people are two distinct biblical concepts.

See how those afflicted with soundbytitis babble in their ignorance of this basic biblical truth.

 A keen mind remarked,
"God of Arminianism foreknew who would believe, while he tries to save everyone, while god of Calvinism elects some for salvation yet he still tries to save everyone." ~~ Ante Zivkovic

I rephrased:
"God of Arminianism knew [past tense] in advance who would believe but still tries [present tense] to save everyone; even so, the god of calvinism elected some for salvation yet he still tries to save everyone."

Both camps adamantly believe that their God sincerely and freely offers of salvation to all. (Obviously, the offer is made to those without salvation, i.e. still in their native state of sin and death.)

Though they are cousins, they are more like twins.
