Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

"... them also which sleep in Jesus Christ..."

"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again,
even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him."
1Th 4:14

On 10.11.12.......
My 84 year old father has passed on from this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Last Saturday, after his breakfast and wash up (cared for by my elder sister Aileen), he was sitting at the usual armchair, taking his morning rest. He literally slept in the Lord Jesus Christ!

I was on my coach journey back to Penang from KL when I got the news from Gideon, my younger brother. When I arrived, the casket with the body was ready to be transported from Penang back to Dad's home in Spg. Lima. At the first opportunity, I removed the cover of the viewing window, and I was impressed with the peaceful countenance upon his face! O bless the Lord for His great goodness!

The last few years of his life was affected by regular manifestation of dementia which was really injurious to himself, and trying to the kind souls who took care of him. But the Lord blessed him to depart this life so peacefully! Even though his mind deteriorated much, yet he has memory of his Savior to the end of his life! O the great faithfulness of His Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Just before the casket was nailed shut, the Lord prompted me to ask for Dad's Chinese Bible to be placed in his right hand.

Is there a better way to depart from this life to be with the Lord? Great is His tender mercies! Blessed be His holy name.

Here a picture of my Dad with my four children, taken in his home... taken probably in 2000/1.
