Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

The simplicity of our church premises

The assembly hall of Sungai Dua Church (the whole premises is only 50'x20' shop-lot) - it's simplicity is stark by any standard. There is no stage with its sophisticated lighting for performances, no drum-set or other sound-box for noise and entertainment, no advanced audio-visual system for amusement... sorry, we are primitive.

However, we have the pulpit for the preaching of God's word, a people who love singing the hymns of praise and hearing the word of God preached, and a table for the Lord's Supper. (The chairs are stacked away because the floor needed to be swept and mopped after the fellowship meal.)

"Wherefore brethren, covet to prophesy..... he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort."

"I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."
