Ecc 5:1 ¶ Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
FOOLS
are those who ...act as though...
-
God seeks their foolish and imbecile offerings...
-
God is a benign grandfather to be entertained by them...
-
God is not to be reverenced when they come into His presence...
-
God has not given plain directives on how they are to conduct themselves in His
presence...
-
God is pleased with their foolish sacrifices even though their sacrifices are
EVIL! They do EVIL in the house of God!!!
Fools are oblivious that they need to be silent before God, be sober, and listen to His word... to be instructed and learn the way they ought to go! The God of heaven say, "be more ready to hear...", not to hear man's wisdom. If that be so, the preacher must be more than ready to preach from the Holy Book!
Greater fools are the preachers who are entertained by the sacrifice of their foolish followers, and in turn entertain their hearers with moralizing and anecdotes and jokes, instead of preaching the word of God to them... reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Greater fools are those who know NOT that God's word alone is to be heard in the house of God!
Apostle
Paul's last words to Timothy:
4:1
¶ I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall
judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort
with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after
their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto
fables.
Since Timothy is charged like that, it expressly implies that his flock must be instant in season, out of season in giving themselves to the faithful preaching of the word of God. They have a biblical warrant to DEMAND that the word of God is preached... otherwise BOOT out the hireling!
The Lord's words to Peter, were repeated 3 times... "Feed my lambs... Feed my sheep... Feed my sheep."
Get the message? That is Christ's instruction and expectation of your pastor teacher! Demand that he does his work! Christ did not say, "Entertain them! Tickle them." He did say, "reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."
The world is far better at entertaining goats. Let the world do what it does best.
Let
the church of Jesus Christ do what it ALONE is commissioned to do!
