Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Monergism and Synergism, Sovereignty and Responsibility, Grace and Works!

Monergism and Synergism,
Sovereignty and Responsibility,
Grace and Works!

Eternal salvation is monergistically by the sovereign grace of God alone.

Temporal salvation is synergistically by the responsible works of obedience of God's children!

Each of these has its own distinct biblical place. They are mutually exclusive, but they are not mutually incompatible; they are biblical in their own spheres!

Grace alone must be understood in the context of the monergistic activities of God in purposing, accomplishing, applying, AND consummating the ETERNAL salvation for the hell-deserving elect. This relates to the eternal wellbeing of the elect.

In the context of temporal salvation, it is conditioned upon the obedience of God's children to the Father's will. The blessing of eternal salvation is indeed by grace alone. But temporal salvation is conditional. This relates to the temporal wellbeing of God's children while on earth.

To simplify grace beyond what it is is to undermine the rest of the teaching of Scriptures on works for the well-being of God's children. God Himself saves and makes us His children, and made us fit for eternal glory by His grace alone in Christ alone. And having made us His children, He commands and holds us responsible to obey His will if we are to experience His promised blessings in this life.

Grace must be maintained in its proper sphere, making sure it does not negate the many commands on duties and responsibilities God has laid upon His children.

We do fail EPICALLY if we fail to distinguish the eternal salvation - that God has purposed, Christ has accomplished and the Spirit has applied to us, thus making us fit for eternal glory - from the temporal salvation that we are commanded to, and must work out for ourselves with fear and trembling.

Monergism is in the context of eternal salvation.

Synergism is in the context of temporal salvation.

Each has its place in their proper biblical CONTEXT!
But they must never be confused and intermixed.
To do so is to destroy the gospel of free grace.
