Things New and Old
Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.
Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.
Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.
There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things" 2Ti 2:7.

Calvinists' Order of Salvation - some comments
Below is an Order of Salvation you will find in any standard 'reformed' or 'calvinistic' systematic.
Their ordo salutis goes like this:
1) election, 2) predestination, 3) gospel call 4) inward call 5) regeneration, 6) conversion (faith & repentance), 7) justification, 8) sanctifica...tion, and 9) glorification. (Rom 8:29-30).
I know primitive baptists are 'doctrine of grace' people.
What you you think of the ordo salutis above?
Ron
I would renumber them in this order: 1,2,7,4,5,3,6,8,9. That is considering number 8 as the practical sanctification that we have in this life.
Mark
3 is not in proper sequence with the rest of the list. 4 and 5 are repetitive. 6 is not in proper sequence either given how I would define my terms.
Ron
My understanding is that 4 produces 5 instantaneously, so that there is not a true chronological order involved.
Mark
Looks like what a 'duty faith' "calminian" would claim for an ordo salutis.

There is some confusion about 'inward call' I believe.
What is inward call?
I have read of effectual call... and that is understood as the Triune God's free and sovereign activity in calling an elect out of his native state of sin and death to that of grace and salvation.
Naturally, if that's the case, then effectual call is a term that must necessarily embrace justification, regeneration, adoption and the bestowal of the gift of the Spirit of adoption to an elect.
Jerry
As Romans 8:29,30 states the Scriptural order...Foreknowledge, Predestination, Calling, Justification and Glorification...
Mark
Your understanding of effectual call is like my own Br. Sing.
Some of the calminian types seem to desire to combine the outward gospel call with an inward call. Some have called this "bullet and the hole" regeneration or "bang bang" regeneration. The idea they convey makes the inward call dependant upon the outward gospel call and you can't have one without the other. Most PB's simply call this "gospel regeneration" and identify it as heresy.

The effectual call makes an elect perfectly fitted for eternal glory, nothing more is needed. Man is completely passive in his eternal salvation. This way, 'salvation by grace alone' is truthfully maintained and honored.
The rest has to do with his temporal salvation, which involves much human activities.
Having been effectually called to grace and salvation, a child of God is enabled to respond to the gospel call for his temporal salvation.
This way, divine grace and effects of that grace are kept distinct.

Amen!

And all that are CLEARLY and PLAINLY spelt out in TIGHT LOGIC by the early Particulat Baptists in the 1689 CoF.

I would have to put regeneration at number 3. A natural man will not receive a gospel or inward call (1 COR. 2:14). A man must be a spiritual man, before he can receive or respond to any calling from God.

Dear Bro. Sing Lau, the list above that you have posted if wrought with CALVINISM ABSOLUTE Gospel Regeneration and wreaks with error not discerning RIGHTLY DIVIDING the Word of Truth pertaining to the TWO Salvations.

Bro. Freddy, what a message to someone whose heart is feeling sad today. God forgive, I sh ould be lifting Him up even when there is sorrow. Thank you for your message today,.

Brother Sing, your words:
"The effectual call makes an elect perfectly fitted for eternal glory, nothing more is needed. Man is completely passive in his eternal salvation. This way, 'salvation by grace alone' is truthfully maintained and honored. The rest has to do with his temporal salvation, which involves much human activities."
This is so clear as to at least imply wrongful intent in anyone who claims not to understand it. God's work ALONE truthfully maintains and honors "salvation by grace alone." That perfect work perfectly qualifies its recipient for heaven's immortal glory. The human activity that follows, as you say so well, has to do ONLY with temporal salvation.
