Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

ALL THINGS were now accomplished

ALL THINGS... what are they?

John 19:28 "After this, Jesus knowing that ALL THINGS were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst."

Ro 8:32 "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us ALL THINGS?"

1Co 2:9 ¶But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, THE THINGS which God hath prepared for them that love him.

ALL THINGS accomplished by Jesus Christ for His people are the ALL THINGS given to each of God's elect personally - no more and no less.

'ALL THINGS' must be defined by the Scriptures itself; the Scriptures is its own interpreter.

"ALL THINGS" that were accomplished by Jesus Christ for His people shall ALL be given to His people; not a single thing that Jesus Christ has accomplished for His people shall be withheld from anyone of God's elect.

If this is true, many things that people IMAGINE to be among the "ALL THINGS" are just figments of their imaginations.

For example, the perseverance of the saints in a life of faith and holiness to the end of their lives - is this among the "ALL THINGS" that Christ accomplished for His people? If it is, then every elect will manifest this in their life.

However, this is obviously not true from the witness of the Holy Scriptures. There are God's children who do not even have the capability to hear and be converted, and there are others who do not have the opportunity to hear the gospel and be converted. How then can these persevere in a life of faith and holiness?

However, the biblical truth of perseverance of the saints is this: every one for whom Christ accomplished their salvation shall remain in the STATE OF GRACE. Jesus Christ did accomplish ALL THINGS necessary for this STATE OF GRACE for every elect who were, by nature, in the STATE OF CONDEMNATION.

Each elect, by the free and sovereign grace, is brought into the STATE OF GRACE, without a single exception, and immutably remains/perseveres in it, because Christ accomplished the requirements for each and every one of the elect.

But to remain in a life of faith and holiness is a SALVATION THAT a child of God must WORK OUT for himself with fear and trembling, through the grace of God working in him; it is not one among the ALL THINGS Christ did accomplish for him.

Philippians 2:12 KJV

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

What THINGS Christ has FINISHED, and freely applied to you personally, needs no working out by you. It's elementary.
