Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Paradise and heaven

#paradise
#heaven

A kind soul sent me a short article saying that paradise and heaven are synonymous. It got me thinking. I don't remember reading such a fable in the Bible. I gave my thoughts...

----------;-

Jesus, in his spirit, went to paradise after he died.

Jesus ascended into heaven after his resurrection.

One who equates paradise as heaven probably hasn't read the Bible for himself; he is just carelessly repeating some shibboleths!

Luke 23:43
"And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."

Acts 1
¶9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

paradise: paradeisos
heaven: ouranos

By divine inspiration, two completely different words are used; however, worldly-wise men equate the two and make them synonymous! Just like woolly-headed folks equate everlasting as eternal.

Rev 2:7 "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Note carefully:
- the paradise of God is entered and enjoyed by one that OVERCOMES... it is conditioned by the works of overcoming.
- Heaven is entered completely by grace alone, by the finished work of Christ alone; He alone made a man fit for heaven.

Paradise is for the spirits of the righteous;
Heaven is for the resurrected glorified saints.

Paradise and hell are in the intermediate state; in the realm of time (between death and resurrection); Heaven and the lake of fire are in the eternal state; in the realm of eternity (after resurrection, beyond time)

May our Lord bless you to know these truths from the Scriptures!  Just read the Scriptures closely, the Lord will begin to show you the truth.

John 14
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

*I will come again* - when is that?

UNTIL Christ comes again, we won't be with him where he is (i.e. in heaven) with the Father. Until our resurrection at Christ's second coming, we won't enter into our eternal inheritance in Christ.

1Pet 1
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

That which is reserved in heaven WILL ONLY be revealed in the LAST TIME... i.e. at Christ's coming again.

Does it make sense now?
