“Consistency, thou art a jewel" |
“Consistency, thou art a jewel"
is a well-known quote sometimes
ascribed to William Shakespeare. Whether or not it originated with him isn’t
nearly as important as the truth that consistency can be a dazzling jewel to
help people deal with the necessary consequences of their ideas!
The story below reminds me of
"Consistency, thou art a jewel."
I'm not sure if the incident is true or
not. I'm not at all surprised if it did actually happen. It is a wonderful
illustration of the maxim.

A devout Arab Muslim got into a cab in
London.
He curtly asked the cabbie to turn off
the radio because as decreed by his religious teaching, he must not listen to
music because in the time of the prophet, there was no music, especially Western
music, which is the music of the infidel.
The cab driver politely switched off
the radio, stopped the cab and opened the door. The Arab Muslim asked him,
"What are you doing????
The cabbie answered, "In the time
of the prophet there were no taxis, no bombs, no plane hijacks, no west
invented loudspeakers in mosques that woke up newly born, elderly and the sick at
unearthly hours, no suicide attacks, no RDX, no AK 56, only ''peace'' everywhere.
So shut up and wait for a camel."

During Christ's ministry, on many
occasions, He employed the same method to expose the glaring inconsistency and
sheer hypocrisy of the Pharisees and the religious establishment of His time.
Our Arminians and Calvinistic brethren
are in great need of being shown the same toooooooooo!
