Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

Weaklings resort to kicking down doors

Are you serious? Weaklings resort to kicking down doors!

Is he serious? Kicking down doors are for weaklings!

Mr. Washer is not representing Jesus Christ rightly. In the context of what Mr Washer is saying, Jesus Christ - who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth - said to the lukewarm church in Laodicea, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

Jesus Christ wants to come in but he doesn't threaten to kick down the door, does He? Instead, He appeals to them to open the door to let Him in.

The truth is, Christ needs no kicking down of doors to save the spiritually dead sinners in enmity and rebellion against Him. Didn't you read the life-giving voice of the Prince of life, "Lazarus, Come forth." Kicking down doors are for weaklings, not befitting the Lord of glory. Even walls are no barriers to Him;

It is easy enough to confuse and confound monergistic redemption with synergistic fellowship; the former is unilateral saving activities by divine grace, necessary because of the spiritual deadness and absolute impotence of those needing to be saved; the latter requires the willing participation of those already redeemed by grace alone.

A biblical distinction is the essence of sound theology.
