Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things" 2Ti 2:7.

What does this birth certificate tell you?

The gospel informs, even as your birth certificate.

All your birth certificate does is to inform you what has already happened. It has nothing to do whatsoever with your conception and birth. Your conception and birth PRECEDED the issuance of the birth certificate that announces that facts what has already happened.

Though the birth certificate DID NOT have anything to do with your conception and birth, and though it is just a piece of paper, it is nevertheless a very useful piece of document because it records what has happened that brought about your being... the identity of your father, and mother, etc...
EVEN SO, the gospel is the good news that announces the great work of salvation that God has accomplished in and through His Son Jesus Christ and applied it to His individual elect personally through His Spirit.

Therefore, it is mighty useful and helpful and needful for a child of God to know the content of the gospel, even so for a man to have a copy of his birth certificate.
