Things New and Old

Ancient truths revealed in the Scriptures are often forgotten, disbelieved or distorted, and therefore lost in the passage of time. Such ancient truths when rediscovered and relearned are 'new' additions to the treasury of ancient truths.

Christ showed many new things to the disciples, things prophesied by the prophets of old but hijacked and perverted by the elders and their traditions, but which Christ reclaimed and returned to His people.

Many things taught by the Apostles of Christ have been perverted or substituted over the centuries. Such fundamental doctrines like salvation by grace and justification have been hijacked and perverted and repudiated by sincere Christians. These doctrines need to be reclaimed and restored to God's people.

There are things both new and old here. "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things"
2Ti 2:7.

"The Bride is God's wife, therefore God the Mother"

Matt 22:2
The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king,
which made a marriage for his son,
They exclaim, "The Bride is God's wife, the wife of God the Father, therefore she is God the Mother."

If you think obsession with the "bloody moons" is fable-ous enough, listen to this "bloody bride" fable!

The folks from the Elohim Academy (Penang) told me their understanding of this passage: Rev 21:2 "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband."

The "bride adorned for her husband" is the wife of God, the wife of God the Father, therefore she is God the Mother! Then they turn to Gal 4:26 - "But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all" - as a proof text for their fable!

A whole lot of sound-bytes, completely void of sense, common sense!

Does Apostle Paul's warning about being turned unto fables mean something to you now?
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

The Scriptures speak thus:

Eph 5:23-27
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Gal 4:26
"But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all"

Rev 12:1
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

Who does this woman signify? God the Mother, the wife of God the Father?

Rev 21:2,9
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

Who is the Lamb? And who is His wife? Who is that bride in heaven?

God the Mother of us all

Elohim Academy, Penang.
Beware of the heretical teachings of this group who is pushing their heresy of God the Mother!

"But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother." NIV
"But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all." KJV.

While I was quietly enjoying my packed dinner in the Tesco Extra food court, a group of three people (2 men and a woman) politely approached me, and introduced themselves as students conducting interviews. I invited them to sit down - two sat opposite before me, and a man to my right. The woman, who sat directly opposite, passed me a questionaire. I apologized that I can't see well because I weren't wearing my glasses. So I suggested she read the questions to me. She can't read English well (being Chinese educated), so she passed it to the man sitting to my right.

Each question is followed by four choices... can't remember the words exactly. (I don't remember the EXACT words used, but the gist conveyed below is most certainly truthful.)

Question 1: Do you have a religion?
I answered, 'I'm a Christian.'

Question 2: Do you believe in heaven and hell?
I answered, 'Yes, I do. In addition to them, I aslo believe in the lake of fire.' My answer somewhat threw them off a bit - from the look on their faces.

Question 3: Jesus taught the disciples to call God "our Father in heaven..." Matthew 6:9. What is your opinion about this?
I answered: 'They have been born of God, so God is their Father.' Their answer (a) "God is the giver of life" (can't remember the exact words).

Question 4: (Here is the deadly POISON) If the disciples have a Father in heaven, don't you think they have a Mother in heaven too? Gal 4:26.
I answered: 'Please show me that passage in your Bible,' I said to the woman who carried a thick bi-lingual (Chinese-English) edition. 'Please read that passage to me.' She read with some excitement in halting English - and pointed to the pronoun "she" - exclaiming that "she" refers to God the Mother in heaven. [It is probably from the NIV, which reads, "But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother."

So I suggested the man to my right to read it to me. I asked him where is God the Mother in the passage. He also pointed to the pronoun "she" and also confidently declared that "she" can only refer to the Mother God in heaven. "Our Father God is matched with Mother God."

Interestingly, in the NIperVersion, from which they were reading, there is a heading "Hagar and Sarah" for the section of Gal 4:21-31. I pointed out that heading to them, 'Do you see this? This passage speaks of Hagar and Sarah.'

I patiently tried to explain to them that Paul was contrasting the old covenant and the new covenant to the Galatian believers, who were deceived, and brought into bondage by the lies pedalled by the Jews, using Hagar and Sarah to illustrate the momentous issue, to bring home the truth to them, along with the example of Jerusalem on earth and the Jerusalem above, about slavery to the old covenant laws and freedom in Christ in the new covenant.

I really don't know how much they understand what I explained to them.

Then they started saying that I don't believe what the Bible is plainly teaching on God the Mother. I told them I believe what the Bible teaches, but I reject their fable, and that they have been indoctrinated, and are not even capable of reading the Bible, and drawing out its PLAIN meaning!

Beware of these sincere but indoctrinated folks... they are actively prowling about seeking whom they may devour.

(A few months ago I met another group of three, also two men and a woman - a Korean woman. I was manning a booth then. The spokesman was aggressive and rude, and banged his Bible on the table before me, charging me for my ignorance of and unbelief in the Scriptures. I was so annoyed by his unruly conduct, that I literally grasped his bible and threw it way, about 20ft from me, and said, "if that bible teaches you that horrid lie, then it should be destroyed." Lesson - there is no need to mess around with me. That's a confession from a sinner saved by grace. I did not conduct peaceably towards them heretics. I was wrong, and I probably deserve hell for that folly!)

We didn't get to go beyond Q4. May be there is a 3rd round to come... they are prowling. I hope to conduct myself better still.

Do you see the pattern how a heresy develop?
- first invent an idea, i.e God the Father must need have God the Mother.
- then find a passage that gives the slightest sound-byte to that idea,
- and bingo, the Bible teaches what they have imagined!!!

"But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother." NIV
"But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all." KJV.

By one simple act of MAGIC the Jerusalem that is above is transformed into God the mother!
It is not too different from Roman Catholic's magic of turning simple bread and wine into the real body and blood of Jesus Christ!

The same popular Arminian and Calvinistic "IF man...THEN God..." fable.

The same popular Arminian and Calvinistic

"if... then..." fable:
The old gospel truth:
"IF man...THEN God..."
"God HAS... THEREFORE man..."

A friend posted a link, and so I read out of curiosity... http://www.matthiasmedia.com.au/2wtl/#.VfahPFsi2Nc.facebook (I had been to St Matthias in Sydney when a student there in the 1980s) On page 6, we read this... "For those of us who have realised that our situation is hopeless, there is a lifeline. If we turn back to God and appeal for mercy, trusting in Jesus’ death and resurrection, then everything changes. "For a start, God wipes our slate clean. He accepts Jesus’ death as payment for our sins, and freely and completely forgives us. He pours his own Spirit into our hearts and grants us a new life that stretches past death and into forever. We are no longer rebels, but part of God’s own family as his adopted sons and daughters. We now live with Jesus as our ruler." --------------------------
This is a typical Arminian/Calvinistic message! - "For those of us who have realised...." Only those ALREADY saved by God's free grace are capable of realizing such hard truth! - "If we turn to God..." Only those whom God HAS ALREADY SAVED by His free and sovereign grace are capable of turning to God. Those still dead in trespasses and sins DO NOT TURN to God; those not yet saved by God are in ENMITY against God. - "Trusting in Jesus' death and resurrection..." Only those whom God the Father has united to Christ in effectual calling is capable of trusting in Jesus' death and resurrection for their redemption!!! To those haven't been saved by God, the gospel is foooooolishness! Oh, that accursed conditions that men dead in trespasses and sins MUST COMPLY with - turn back to God... trusting in Jesus' death and resurrection... - before God is moved to perform all those saving activities. Oh the popular lie "If man will do this and this, THEN God will do this and this and this...." Where is free divine grace in this whole scheme of "if man... then God" fable? What good news is there? The gospel is the reverse, i.e. God has done these for you, now therefore believe them, and live this way." -------------------------------------------- A brother inquired:
Hi Sing, Are you reading in the text more than it says? Are you reading page 6 in the context of the 5 previous ones? If you explained to someone that he is a rebel in the world God lovingly created and placed him in. That God, rather than leaving us in our sin, lovingly intervened in sending his son, who died for sin and raised from the dead, and the person understood all that. If that person then says, 'what must I do to be saved?', how would you answer? A correct answer could be 'nothing, Christ did it all'. However, Paul says 'believe and you will be saved'. One can say this sounds very arminian, he needs to believe to be saved! God can bring a crop without any rain. Yet he chooses to use rain to make the fields grow and bear fruit. In the same way, it is true that God's work in my heart made me turn to him in repentance and faith. Yet, that work I understood only later, once I looked back on my life and saw how God saved me way back, before the foundation of the world. But when I came to the Lord, there were external signs that showed God's work within me. To put it another way, would you say that a person can be saved apart from repentance, Which is confessing our sin and throwing ourselves upon God's mercy in the person and work of Jesus Christ? Yours in Christ, P ==============
I replied: Thanks for your inquiry... my comments (#) after yours (P) P - Are you reading in the text more than it says? Are you reading page 6 in the context of the 5 previous ones? ## If I'm reading into the text more than it says, then you can at least demonstrate that to me. If page 6 is in the context of the 5 previous ones, then it would be written in such plain CONTRADICTORY terms. P - If you explained to someone that he is a rebel in the world God lovingly created and placed him in. That God, rather than leaving us in our sin, lovingly intervened in sending his son, who died for sin and raised from the dead, and the person understood all that. If that person then says, 'what must I do to be saved?', how would you answer? ## VERY GOOD question, Peter. And here is the essence of the matter, which I hope, you will consider, and be brought to a more complete understanding of the doctrine of salvation. Both the arminians and their cousins calvinists do not distinguish between the salvation which is solely by the activities of the Triune God, and the salvation which comes by the responses of man to God's command. Once you are willing to understand, and accept that biblical truth, you will save yourself from all the inevitable confusion and contradiction in your statements on salvation. In your good question above, you may wish to acknowledge that ONLY those whom God has ALREADY SAVED is capable of asking, "what must I do to be saved?" A man still dead in trespasses and sins, still in his NATIVE STATE of sin and condemnation has no capability of discerning the things of the Spirit of God, much less asking what he must do to be saved! "Except a man be born again, he cannot..." A man born from above has been BESTOWED with salvation by the free and sovereign grace of God... thus enabling him to discern spiritual things... to see the kingdom of God... and to enter the kingdom of God. These are basics with those who claim to be calvinists - I hope I'm correct, even though I'm NOT a calvinist. And what do you think the man's act of believing will save him from? What does the man's act of believing the truth of the gospel save a him from? What did Peter exhort the hearing to save themselves from?
Is the salvation that comes by the activities of men ONE and THE SAME as the salvation in Jesus Christ freely bestowed by God's grace? Is the salvation that was finished by Jesus Christ and freely bestowed to men (while they were dead in trespasses and sins) the same as the salvation that comes to them through their own activities like believing and obeying God's will. Is that salvation that men are commanded to work out for themselves with fear and trembling the same as the salvation that is freely bestowed by God to sinners while they were still dead in trespasses and sins? May be it is time you wish to put your mind to ponder these things, and rightly divide them... properly distinguish the MONERGISTIC aspect of salvation, and the SYNERGISTIC aspect of salvation. When you do that all the standard and common CONTRADICTIONS and INCONSISTENCIES shall be resolved... P - A correct answer could be 'nothing, Christ did it all'. However, Paul says 'believe and you will be saved'. One can say this sounds very arminian, he needs to believe to be saved! ## To that simplistic view, I would ask, "who can believe?" Have we forgotten that most solemn declaration, "Except a man be born again, he CANNOT..." Only a born again man is capable of believing. Believing does save a man... but ask yourself, how does believing save a man, believing save him from what? Does a man's believing save him the same way Christ's redemptive saved him? Apostle Paul has a good reason to command Timothy, "rightly dividing the word of truth." - Rightly dividing the word of truth would remove whatever apparent inconsistencies there are. - The correct answer IS Christ did everything, and everything Hid did for our salvation is FREELY and sovereign applied to us when we were still in our native state of death and condemnation. - Whatever we are commanded to do, and must do, relate to a different and distinct salvation. Our activities relate to our WELL BEING as God's children. - God DOES NOT command those dead in trespasses and sins to perform spiritual activities. Many stupid (i.e. lacking common sense) preachers do that!!!
P - God can bring a crop without any rain. ## Your illustration is good, except it misses the point of the matter at hand. - The divine work of giving eternal life to man dead in trespasses and sins REQUIRES no means. He freely and sovereignly regenerates each of His elect at His own appointed and approved time, with no help whatsoever. - God does appoint the specific means for the growth and fruitfulness of His children (produced by His own monergistic activities). Growth and fruitfulness PRESUPPOSES life that already bestowed before rain could be of any benefit!!! - You need to clearly distinguish the Divine activities that PRODUCES His children, and the means He himself has appointed for the growth and fruitfulness of His children. The former is MONERGISTIC, the latter is SYNERGISTIC. P - To put it another way, would you say that a person can be saved apart from repentance, Which is confessing our sin and throwing ourselves upon God's mercy in the person and work of Jesus Christ? ## Good question Peter. I wish to answer your question, but for me to answer it, I need to ask, "can a person be saved FROM WHAT apart from repentance"? - From your reading of Holy Scriptures, just who is capable of discerning spiritual things, and repent - those still dead in trespasses and sins, or those whom God HAS ALREADY saved by His free grace in Jesus Christ, i.e. God has effectually called him to grace and salvation, regenerated? Is repentance a fruit, and EVIDENCE of salvation, or is it the means to obtain salvation? In closing, let me say this: Biblical distinction is the essence of sound theology. Failure to do so is the source of much confusion and inconsistencies among those who pride themselves in reformed theology!

A gift... but with a few wee conditions!

Do you see the obvious contradictions in what Mr Pink is saying?
Too many calvinists quote other calvinists unthinkingly..

"Eternal life is a gift... salvation is a gift..." but this gift is conditioned upon a few tiny CONDITIONS the recipient must meet and comply... and yet it is still a gift. What nonsense and gibberish.

I know Pink can't be around to answer my inquiries, but let me inquire nevertheless. Any pinkish comments are welcome!!!

1. It is implied that seeking wholeheartedly is the condition to the bestowal of eternal life/salvation. Is it right? If it is, then it is believed that someone still dead in trespasses and sins, i.e. without eternal
life/salvation, is able to seek for eternal life / salvation, even seeking it wholeheartedly, in order to receive that eternal life/salvation.
- Is that what Pink is saying?

2. It is implied that complying with the RULES which God has prescribed is the condition to the bestowal of eternal life / salvation.
Is it right? If it is, then it is presupposed that someone dead in trespasses and sins is able to comply with the RULES to obtain eternal life/salvation.
- Is that what Pink is saying?

3. It is implied that coming empty-handed and in the way God Himself has appointed is the conditions to the bestowal of eternal life / salvation.
Is this correct? If it is, then it is asserted that one who is still dead in trespasses and sins is capable of coming to God empt- handedly and in the way God has appointed.
- Is that what Pink is saying?

What lead to all these obvious contradictions?
The answer is quite simple if one will rightly divide the word of truth.
The answer is to rightly divide and distinguish the eternal life/salvation which is freely and sovereign bestowed upon a sinner in his native state of sin and death, i.e. without ANY conditions whatsoever.

Anything that requires compliance with any conditions or rules, anything that requires a man doing anything for his eternal life / salvation PRESUPPOSES that the man has been bestowed with eternal life / salvation, and that his activities of complying with any conditions or rules has to do with his TEMPORAL SALVATION, a salvation which God's children (those already bestowed with eternal life and salvation) are commanded to work out for themselves with fear and trembling.

The salvation that enables a man to comply, and the salvation that comes from a man's acts of compliance are two distinct and separate salvation. One is the salvation that is by Christ and bestowed freely to sinners still in their native state of sin and death; the other is the salvation that needs to be worked out by God's children with fear and trembling in compliance to their Father's will.
