Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I
am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
This
is a popular passage but little understood. People automatically relate this
passage with their notion of the Great Commission.
May
I help you to think a little with a few questions?
1.
To whom did Christ address these words?
-
To His Apostles.
-
special signs and power were promised to them, no one else.
-
Mark 16:17 KJV — And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name
shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

What were they sent forth to do?
-
to teach the gospel truth and to convert them to Christ.
-
to teach "all nations", don't just stick to their own people. Go to
the Gentiles; Christ has redeemed His people out of every kindred, and tongue,
and people, and nation. Rev 5:9
3.
Who are those of all nations that are capable of being taught the gospel truth
and be converted to Christ?
-
Only those whom God has effectually called out of their native state of sin and
death.
-
They weren't sent to assist God to regenerate those dead in trespasses and
sins.
4.
In what context were the Apostles to teach the converts to observe all things
whatsoever Christ has commanded them?
-
The context is the local churches; those that are converted are to be baptized,
and gathered into churches of Jesus Christ.
5.
Did the Apostles finish the work they were commissioned, the so-called GC? What
did they say?
-
Ro 10:18 "But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went
[past tense] into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the
world."

Col 1:5-6 "For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye
heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Which is come unto you, as
it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since
the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

1Tim 3:16 "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God
was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached
unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."
Did
you read "...into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the
world," "...which is come unto you, as it is in all the world,"
"... believed on in the world"?
Yes,
they completed the so-called GC delivered to them.
6.
Did the Lord fulfill His promise to be with the Apostles "alway, even to
the end of the world"?
-
Yes, He did, even to the end of the Jewish world in 70AD.

Have you understood Matt 24:14????! "And this gospel of the kingdom shall
be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the
end come."
