Rooted, built up, and established in the faith...
Brother KY led the service this morning (7th Feb) and read
from Col 2:1-8.
He spoke on the grave dangers of being deceived, and the
defence against them.
4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with
enticing words.
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain
deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not
after Christ.
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith,
as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
To be rooted and built up and established in the faith is
the effect and fruit of being faithfully TAUGHT the truth of Christ. There is
no other way. It is the only defence against enticing words of philosophies and
vain deceit.
If you are not rooted then you are in grave danger like the
children spoken of here:
Eph 4:14 "That we henceforth be no more children,
tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the
sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to
deceive."
It is certainly humiliating to be treated like that, kicked around like a ball on a field.
