is it an instrument to produce the tree (object)?

or is it evidence of the tree?

The light:

If there is no light, will the tree ever cast a shadow?

Will the brightest light produce any shadow if there is no tree?

The tree

does the absence of a shadow in the absence of light, e.g. on a moonless night
or a cloudy day, mean the tree does not exist?
