#The_Watershed_of_sabbaths

The resurrection of Christ the Lord is the watershed of sabbaths; the old was ended and the new has dawned.

Mt 28:1a "In the end of the *sabbath* as it began to dawn toward the first *day of the week*, ...."

Notes:
a. *sabbath* is in the plural  - *σαββτων* - plural of σαββτon (singular).

b. The phrase  *day of the week* is just one word in Greek, also sabbath, same as *σαββτων*, i.e. in the plural too.

This Scripture is not just speaking of weekly days, i.e. the end of the seventh day of the week and the beginning of the first day of the week. The plural σαββτων indicates that.

"In the end of σαββτων..."
is contrasted with
"as it began to dawn toward the first of σαββτων."

σαββτων were ended and the first of σαββτων was dawning; the resurrection of the crucified Saviour marked the momentous change.

Question- what σαββτων were ended and the first of what σαββτων was dawning?

The old covenant Jewish sabbaths were ended / abolished by the resurrected Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; the same risen Lord inaugurated the beginning of the new covenant gospel sabbaths in Him.

Matthew 11:28 KJV
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Hebrews 4:9 KJV
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
